Action-Adventure 'Jack Reacher' series in development for Amazon

Primal biology I suppose. Fight or flight type of thing. Some dudes see a giant specimen like Reacher and want see if they can be the new pack alpha.

Watched two and the show is good enough for me to keep going IN SPITE of Ritchson. He's got Reacher's size I'll give him that, but he's too stiff, like I wish Criuse's voice came out of his mouth. Keep in mind I've read near half of the books. Cruise had more of the FEEL of Reacher while Ritchson has the size. Wish there was someone who was a closer to the middle of the two. The rest of the cast so far is fantastic. Loving Rosco a lot. :)

I watched it over 2 days and it was far better than I expected. Never read the books but I have seen the Cruise movies so my knowledge of Reacher is limited. I don't know how Reach is supposed to be but Ritchson did good enough I don't have any complaints.

Glad it has a second season. It definitely has the feel of True Detective blended with Highway to Heaven and a dash of The Incredible Hulk.

I was also happy to see the actor who plays Guiermo on What we do in the Shadows in this as Jasper the coroner. Love him. Good cast in this, happy it got renewed. There's 20 books or so, so there's plenty of material. :)

I’m guessing Roscoe won’t be part of next season? He probably meets new people each season.

Apparently, it's a new town/place location, it would likely be an entirely new cast. Though Neagley it seems would be someone who could become a semi-regular, recurring character.

Maybe if Reacher wants to retire and settle down at some point, but that's not really who he is.

Just started, and I'm loving it so far. So happy this is proving to be a hit for Ritchson - Dude has been on the cusp of stardom for near-20 years now, and keeps getting screwed over. Hopefully this will finally cement his place in the industry, he deserves it. (Richard Rider in the MCU, maybe?)

I gotta check it out. IT's getting such high praise. It looked so mediocre to me, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Alan Ritchson did a Reddit AMA. Not sure if I can link due to swearing but it's pretty funny

That's how the books are which make them almost stand alone tales. It also would make it easier to recover from a season that bombs. You can be sure of a new environment each season, unless the writers chose to change that. :)

Just finished S1.

As someone who has read 5-6 of the Reacher books and loved Tom Cruise in the role, I have to say... Alan Ritchson absolutely embodies the character from the books.

While Cruise certainly had the deductive mind of Reacher (most important aspect for me), he missed the physique and tank build of book Reacher in order to bring the casting to perfection.

Ritchson brought both the brains and brawl together ("daab") and you could feel the weight of the punches he landed.

Can't wait for S2 and where Reacher will go next!

Binged the whole season yesterday and it's much better than I was expecting. The guy playing Reacher is a physical presence and the writing and directing did a good job of accentuating his positives and not putting him any situations beyond his acting level. The final episode was straight out of an 80's action movie and the other 7 were an engrossing detective thriller. There's a good cast of veteran supporting actors like Bruce McGill and Currie Graham as well as Kristin Kreuk, while Willa Fitzgerald and Malcolm Goodwin are excellent and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Neagly in season 2.

I'm nearly done with this, and honestly I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I have been.. Also I can't help but think that they thought of Kevin Spacey for the role of Kliner Sr (but obviously couldn't bring him in) so they went for the next closest thing with Currie Graham

Finished this a couple days ago and loved it overall. Ritchson is perfectly cast as Reacher and knocked it out of the park. Loved his interactions with Roscoe, Finley and Neagley. Going forward, a lot will hinge on his chemistry with future cast members since two out of those three likely won’t be back aside from maybe the occasional cameo. I would LOVE to see more of Neagley though; I really like the brother/sister type of relationship she has with Reacher and it would be cool to see her bumped up to a co-lead in a future season.

One nitpick would be that they need some more imposing villains, and by that, I mean physically imposing. It’s a but of a stretch at times to buy that some of these skinny guys could give Reacher a run for his money. I need to see him go up against some bad guys who are the size of the Rock.

Watched the whole season today and really enjoyed it. Had been avoiding it cuz of the hype and afraid it wouldn’t live up but I’m happy to say it did.

I’m kinda proud of myself for figuring out a “twist” although I wouldn’t have minded for it to have not happened, but oh well.

i liked Reacher a lot. I’ve not seen the movies so I can’t compare but while he’s a total specimen of a man, there was something about his voice and cadence I really liked too.

Which book does this season follow? The first? I’m now aware there’s like 20 books

This is the first book. There are something like 26 books total and several short stories. The showrunners have also said they have no idea which book they will adapt next. From what I can gather these are basically stand alone stories with only loose connections to one another.
