Jack the Ripper

I remember something that came out last year, where Jack the Ripper was apparently Aaron Kominski, a Polish immigrant. They used modern day forensic techniques to examine an article of clothing from one of the victims and they found his DNA on it somehow.

It doesn't necessarily mean he was the killer, though. And I'm sure this time next year there will be yet another book about Jack the Ripper published.

I think Zodiac is far more interesting. That wasn't even 40 years ago and we STILL had zero capabilities of finding him?

What are the movies based on Jack the ripper?

There are lots of them....here are the ones I own on DVD -

You would think a competent ripper movie would be made. Haven't heard of any great ones. From hell I've tried to finish at least twice and can't finish it.

I wonder if they're still doing the From Hell adaptation on F/X?

There is also the Tv show Ripper Street which is set in the aftermath of the ripper murders.

I remember seeing a film called The Lodger many years ago with a fellow named Laird Cregar as the ripper. Quite creepy and very well done. It was also done by Alfred Hitchcock as a silent film previous to that.

Also, the British TV series Whitechapel did a very well done episode to start their series.

Whitechapel was good. First season started with a copy cat killer who was imitating Jack the Ripper. The series went on for further 3 seasons.
