James Bond In Skyfall - - Part 11

It was like something you'd get in Burn Notice, or the A-Team even. In any other film it would be fine, but there's a certain expectation you have in Bond. And also an expectation about the Bond girl.

been in the final fight at Skyfall Lodge, that would've at least had a Bond girl alongside Bond as it normally has been, and then maybe she could've tried to get M to safety, but failed at it. It could've been that failure that made her realise finally that she's not cut out for the field, and it still would've worked and satisfied traditionalists.

Instead, what we get is our own realisation by the end of the film that a Bond girl has been alongside Bond at the end, and she's none other than Judi Dench!!

Craig should've said at the end "the b**** is dead". Make it his Bond's catchphrase for every Bond girl he so unluckily loses in his tenure.

I think it was implied with the opening sequence that she just wasn't cut out for this type of work. Not being able to drive the car and missing her mark and hitting Bond.

As much as i liked the humanising aspect of this Bond , i just didn't like Bond crying. It was just too far IMO. I've always preferred the cold look that he has .

I don't know about that. He played John Steed in the Avengers in 1998. He was criticised back then for being too much like a city banker and would've probably come off not that different from Steed, or perhaps similar to Pierce Brosnan. He fought Sean Connery in that film but didn't honestly look like he could hold his own. It was as if Connery were pulling his punches to give Fiennes a chance, because he really looked like he could've whipped his ass.

I imagine Connery vs Brosnan in a fight to be much the same.

Eh, cannot agree with that, whilst Fiennes may be a great actor there's no doubt in my mind that he doesn't suit the role of Bond in any degree. Bond is meant to have a bit of an edge to him and Fiennes lacks that quality.

I will say I think without a doubt Craig is the best Bond of all time because he is the most like the Bond that Ian Fleming wrote.

Skyfall is easily better than Quantum of Solace and I think on par with Casino Royale, slightly better maybe.

It would've also allowed Bond to pursue Silva to a more exotic location and a more typically Bond type of finale.

I was hoping Bond would also engage Silva in a physical fight rather than just getting him with a knife which was a little anti-climactic and too quick. Since he was a former MI6 agent, I would've liked to see agent vs agent to see who comes out on top, with Silva even getting the better of Bond at times because of Bond's injury, but Bond finally winning through.

I also wish that "Skyfall" was not simply Bond's ancestral home, but rather the name of a mass operation to bring down MI6. For all of its apocalyptic undertones, it turns out to be something rather too bland and simple as the name of a lodge.

The Highlands are pretty damn awesome in my book so Im personally glad to see scotland in Skyfall.

I don't like the idea of M dying at the courtroom, as the 3rd act would have been a revenge story which we already got in QOS.

I actually like the idea of the 3rd act, M and Bond goes to his ancestral home and disappear so that they could deal with Silva themselves and not let anyone else die because of M's "sins", which is unique for a Bond film finale.

My suggestions for the 3rd act:
1. Eve and Mallory (and even Q) somehow gets into Skyfall and helps out.
2. Bond driving the DB5 vs Silva in the helicopter
3. More Silva dialogue
4. Bond vs Silva hand to hand combat
5. M tells Mallory that he will be a good replacement and to do a better job than her or something like that.
6. M's death causes Eve to take a desk job
7. Silva surviving (the cliche: good guys thinks he's actually dead at the end but the audience is shown he is actually alive)
8. Q at the final scene before Bond meets the new M

A stronger 3rd act would have made the movie even much better for me.

I agree with the final part. I mean, yeah it was really awesome to go into Bond's origin, but I wanted skyfall to be some covert mission or something. However, this is what I wanted, not what the film was about, so Idk if that is a good enough complaint for me.

I agree with whoever said something about bond tackling a organization (let's finish the remaining threads of Quantum, or make them into this series SPECTRE(?)

So my review? LOVED it. Ties as my favorite, with Goldeneye. So very, very good.It was easy to tell where TDK was referenced, the humor was good, whilst not being overbearing, and the homages to pat Bond movies were great. I do have a little bit of complaints (I won't post the spoilery things until tomorrow, after everyone's seen it.) :

Yes, we know Silva gets little screentime, and when he does get it, it's awesome, but I really wanted more than that.

The Gunbarrel sucked. Craig looked so lifeless.

That is about all i will post until I get back from my second showing, tomorrow evening. Overall, very happy, with little complaints.
