James Cameron's "Avatar" Thread v.4

I was just kidding, still i hope this 3D version brings the extended version of the film.
Looking mine, i can now say that they still need to release a 3D Edition with all the 3 different versions of the film, i want to watch the extended cut in 3D please :o

To fit all three versions on one blu-ray the picture quality was compromised, but hey the picture quality of the extended scenes look amazing! It was a little off putting when you would go ack to the theatrical footage, how less sharp the picture looked.

Concept art looks great, Animal Kingdom and DHS desperately need new attractions.

I didn't think Avatar was that great, but I would definitely go to see that attraction in 2017. With Cameron and Disney supervising, the attention to detail will definitely be on par with Universal Orlando's HP theme park.

Then put each version in a different disk, simple as that, it would be expensive yes, but in least the quality wouldn't be affected. And why does that happen? Aren't the deleted scenes in the same quality as the theatrical version?

Nope! The new scenes are sharp and beautiful to look at while the theatrical footage isn't. I felt cheated after I bought the extended Blu-ray.

But weren't they shot with the same camera? Why don't they edit the scenes properly? It's not as if this was some indy film done by a filmmaker with few resources.

It has nothing to do with that. When Fox released the extended cut on Blu-ray they put all three versions on one disc with 50 GB worth of space. Each version needed to be on separate discs. The theatrical footage was put on the disc in a smaller file to be able to put all the added content on the disc. the the theatrical footage was compromised for the extended footage to shine. The added content and the extended footage was not compromised, it was sharp and clear. Every time an extended sequence was over you could see the the theatrical footage on the disc was not as sharp, of lesser bit rate.

When Fox released the film for the first time on Blu-ray it was a bare bones disc with just the movie on it filling the 50GB worth of space, it looks beautiful, crisp and clear. All I had to do was put that disc on to compare that image quality to the extended cut's poorer image quality, which was easily obvious that the latter was not as good a picture.

Ah i see. Even more reasons to make me want another ultimate edition for the film, i'dd like to watch the other version in 3D with the max quality

Wait they released a reference quality version of the film first in a barebones version and then downgraded the video in a more comprehensive release? LOL Fox.

Is the 3D version of good quality? And is there one with botht he 2D and 3D versions of the film?

i forgot how tall they are.

5 years. this movie was realesed 5 years ago. half decade :ninja:

The sequel can't come soon enough. I am looking forward to it!

I do not doubt it.

If James Cameron was a royal prince not in line for the throne, he would usurp it. Ambition is in his DNA.

Disney might as well just re-release Endgame and Avatar on alternating years at this point, which, it's Disney, so I could easily see them doing that just to retain spots 1 and 2.

Meanwhile, Gone with the Wind is like 'I mean, it's still technically me, so...'

Lol. Don't think they'll be re-releasing that one to theatres anytime soon.

I wouldn't put it past theaters. There have been a lot of older movies that Regal and AMC have put back into theaters, like for Fandango events. It's how I saw stuff like Jaws and Psycho in a regular theater a few years back. But yeah, Gone with the Wind, probably not. It's more just me commenting on that, when you factor in inflation, that's still probably gonna be number one even after we're all gone.
