Christopher Nolan's Inception (Thread II)

They gave Bourne Ultimatum the editing statue over No Country in 2007. That gives Inception some hope.

That's true. I love the Bourne movies, but that one is admittedly a strange choice. I felt No Country had really, really strong editing. Bourne Ultimatum's editing was great too, but it wasn't mindblowing like Inception's dream within a dream within a dream within a dream cross-cutting. For an action movie to win an award that usually goes to the Best Picture winner, you would expect it to be pretty mindblowing. Bourne's editing was great, but it wasn't noticeably better than No Country's editing.

I know. But that was an example to prove that the academy can give the editing award to an action film.

Definitely gives some hope that it might happen. Certainly a strange choice at the time. I wonder if There Will Be Blood caused some vote-splitting and allowed Bourne to sneak in.

Lets hope the critics fight over Black Swan and the Social Network and Inception slips past. :oldrazz:

Ultimatum also won best sound editing and mixing. I think Inception is a lock for those. Tron is really its only competition for the technical awards.

It might not win Sound editing because Richard King already won for TDK. They might feel it is time for someone else.

seems to me that fincher is a lock for best director and social network a lock for best picture. i can live with that. nolan getting a best director nomination should also be a lock..

Interesting or just plain stupid? Jackman's performance is probably only bested by Guy Pierce, and Eckhart turned in solid work, easily in the top ten.

What about Leo? He also did amazing. But yeah I agree, Eckhart was INCREDIBLE - especially in his delivery of specific lines... "SAY IT!!!" comes to mind. God damn...

interesting enough, right before he said that I was just about to fall asleep (it was a midnight show) and then woke up in shock lol

I saw at midnight, the theater had about 5 rooms screening (there are only two theaters in Annapolis, only one of which was playing the movie) and the bathrooms were constantly packed. I had to pee at the start of the last trailer and held it in the entire 2 and half hours. It helped me stay on the edge of my seat the entire movie, or maybe it was just the movie. But I almost lost it on the "SAY IT!" and when we finally get to see his face. :awesome:

No Eckhart makes the list invalid.

This is mine;

1. Ledger - TDK
2. Bale - Prestige
3. Pearce - Memento
4. Williams - Insomnia
5. Jackman - Prestige
6. Eckhart - TDK
7. Bale - BEGINS
8. Cotillard - Inception
9. Hall - Prestige
10. *Oldman - Begins,TDK/Caine - Begins,TDK,Inception

Leaving Eckhart out is disappointing, but I'm glad they reserved a spot for Oldman.

Yeah I'd say Mal is probably the only juicy role for an actress so far in a Nolan film, which is a little sad, and Cotillard nailed, so I think she should be on the list.

If you had said that in that in the Batboards, they would have ritually sacrificed you to Nolan's vest for falling asleep during TDK:oldrazz:

The Prestige is underrated, period. ha.

I'm not sure if I like it more than The Illutionist tho...
