Just came back from seeing this. Not as good as the first one but still had some tense creepy moments. I enjoyed it.

I loved Chapter 2. It's more of a wacky funhouse ride than the standard haunted house of 1. More humor. Back to the Future Part II of horror.

Also, when Lin Shaye returned my crowd erupted into cheers. It gave me chills.

Really? I didn't catch that. I was wondering what she saw. Also, I never realized this but I just found out that one of the ghost hunters with glasses is also the writer of the movie. That just blew my mind

Yep. He was also Adam in Saw, which he also wrote... Also.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was very cool how they tied this into the events of the first film, even splicing scenes together.

Only thing that confused me was what the deal was with that Allison girl.

So I actually liked this film more than the first. It actually helped flesh out a lot of issues I had with the first movie, and the tension was kept high and never dropped.

Though I think what I like the most is that it really works as a continuation of the first film. I could watch them all as one long movie and be very satisfied with it. I really don't get why people are ragging on this at all. I mean, some of the things the critics are complaining about (corny moments etc) were present in the first one. This is the one time I really feel like they had a complete 360 from the first film.

I would rank it up with the first. The friend I went with said the same. While I think the first was creepier from the get-go and this one took some time to get there, this made up for that in a better overall tone throughout. Both also found it scarier than 'The Conjuring.' The thing that scares me the most is seeing all of those nightmarish images that you see in your dreams. A surrealistic approach to horror, if you will. But also because a lot of the scares here are grounded scares that people have recorded happening to them (granted not all of them, but a lot).

Chapter 2 is a disaster. It has a 1000 pointless convoluted plot points, the acting by some players is over the top awful and it also has too many damn characters. The second half is so dumb and bat-crap crazy that I loved hated it. All horror sequels suck or are inferior to the first so I'm not angry or shocked and will have fun making fun of the film when it hits DVD.

I FINALLY got around to watching Insidious 2, while it was good....OMG did it give me a headache when they went back in time somehow in the astral world......But at least the family got a happy ending.
