Jason McTeigue talks Superman Reboot!

If there's a way to edit a thread title I haven't figured it out yet. I know how you feel, I've screwed up thread titles before too and been stuck with it.

You'd think people wouldn't feel the need to point it out after Octoberist did in the first post, but lots of people on message boards will take any oportunity to post a comment if they know they're right about something, even if others have already pointed it out. If you don't want to hear it anymore you could ask a mod to merge the thread with a similar one in that's in the Superman forum.

Thanks, bro, I appreciate your sympathy. too bad there isn't an editing option. :/

Back on topic... I'm not sure how I feel about Mr. McTeigue. I hope he isn't arrogant enough to think he can reinvent the wheel. Superman doesn't need a massive makeover or to be reinvented. They just need to do a film featuring the post crisis version of the character.

^^ My thoughts exactly. Although unlike McTeigue, I'm not completely averse to them doing the origin, as long as it's a 21st century, post crisis take, because that's what's needed, IMO, AND, they have Brainiac as the villain and LOTS of action, of course. The whole origin, IMO, can be establsihed in a half hour-35 minutes out of a 2 and a half hour film. I would do it similar to how TAS did it.

You know you have a problem when kids write in to magazines and ask how Superman got his powers.

I liked V For Vendetta as a film and thought it was a somewhat good adaption and I have high hopes for Ninja Assassin. I wouldn't mind seeing this guy direct a Superman film.

I dont really see anything wrong with what he said to mtv. I do like if he is picked by wb he would reboot the character like what singer should have done in the first place back in 2006. As for the whole origin stuff i said in supes boards if this is a brand new take on the character we need to have some origin bits in their somewhere. If you dont have origin/krypton stuff their is certain things that could be allued to and talked about that could be used down the road in sequels and all that.

The origin is indeed off limits due to the most recent decision of the courts which DC will surely appeal. I don't know why they just don't give fair rights to them and be done with it. Give 10% to each creators estates on Supes stuff and move on make 80% or a gagillion dollars alread:D

I think a total reboot including twenty minute origin would be good.

Well thats the whole thing we dont really know for sure what is going on and who knows by the time shuster's heir come into play come 2013 things could all work out and wb/dc and the families make a deal were dc/wb can still use the character 100% and the families just take in a bigger percentage of profits made off the elements they officially own.

I said this the other week or so on the supes boards. From the folks i was talking about the whole new thing with the siegels doesnt mean wb/dc cant use those things, it just means the siegels could legally make money off of stories/reprints on those elements they own the rights too. But who knows the whole court drama is so dam confusing.

And come on if its a reboot and you cant have his origin you are loosing his whole planet history, his family history, loose out on phantom zone/zod(stuff possibly), and other villains that can be included down the road.

I really do hope in the end the character doesnt get all spilt apart cause really a 1930s superman that the siegels would own, and the remaining superman dc comics own fully themselfs just wont work well apart.

Both halfs would probably fail miserably and not make the same amount of money that is made on the character intact. And really if money is all the siegels and shuster heirs are after. Wouldnt it be smarter to leave it at the place where it makes millions of dollars per year. Then taking it awhil and trying to recreate the wheel and hope it becomes just as sucessful?
