JAWS: Welcome to Amity Island

i hope speilberg is involved somehow

The only involvement from Spielberg that I want to see is him telling everyone to stop making new Jaws movies.

The original is a classic. It doesn't need a sequel or a remake.

Jaws 2 was OK, Jaws 3 sucked, Jaws The Revenge is godAwful.

Why part 5 over 20 years later? Just to capitilize on a brand name?

Well I kinda like the idea of the film taking place in the 70's, if this movie has Quint, or hell, if it has Richard Dryfuss in it, it would be better then Jaws 2-4. So if it's in the 70', has Quint, or has Richard Dryfuss this movie will be better then O.K.

You never know man, you never know. I'm guessing not, but when I think of this film, I kinda picture The new Friday the 13th movie or Batman Begins, something good is cooking.

Do we have a legit source?

Anyways, bad idea. I LOVE Jaws. Think it is one of the finest movies ever made. But its sequels are a line of increasingly less funny jokes. Time has been kind to the classic and its sequels have been forgotten. Why pick at old wounds?

Jaws is fine where it is.

it COULD be good but forgive me for being pessimistic --
and i would bet my pinky on dreyfus not being in the movie

I LOVE Jaws, and sharks. I have the pleasure of being born during the summer of 75'....the summer of the shark. The thing I love most about it is it's realism. Everything that happened in the original could happen in real life. Unlike, say, the sequels when the shark travels at 60 mph while chasing down waterskiers.:whatever:
Jaws 2 is decent and Jaws:The Revenge is a horrible piece of trash.
As for Jaws 3,well,I liked it. Not because it's good but because it's SO bad. For me it's cheese, but good cheese.

Seriously I think this film is heading towards the TCM or BB feel, gritty and dark, I dont they are going to make a film like Jaws 4 or 3.

We needs Jaws X where thousands of years down they find the body of an old killer shark and bring it to space to examine and than it wakens and eats everyone on board the ship.

I hope Universal doesn't read that or else...that's the new movie.

As much as I LOVE sharks and shark attack movies,I don't want any more Jaws films. NO REMAKE and I just can't see a sequel being worth anything.

I'm only praying....and please, no PG rating, we need a PG-13 rating.

There was no point in making any sequel to Jaws. There was only one homicidal shark & they should of left it at that.

I can't see Speilberg having anything to do with directing a new Jaws project for as much as he obviously has a love for the original judging by his interviews, Jaws remains one of the most depressing and stressful shoots he's ever had to endure but if he was onboard in a producing capacity, where he could offer advice to whatever director lands the job, I'd be that much more reassured.

I'm intrigued to see where this one goes, I really am............................

How about a movie about the making of the original movie? Of course it won't be a 'blockbuster' but a drama that shows the struggle that was making this movie.

IIRC a couple of fan-filmmakers did one a while back, "Courage & Stupidity", but I would like seeing Universal tackle a version with more money for mainstream release. It would be a pretty funny movie, what with the first director who didn't know the difference between a whale and a shark, the mechanical shark sinking to the bottom of Nantucket sound in a spurt of bubbles on its first test, the sound techs cussing up a storm when one of the Orcas was bottomed out prematurely, Scheider instigating a food fight, etc. They wouldn't even have to "dress it up" with a lot of unnecessary jokes.

i'd see another jaws movie...they don't really have to call it jaws but if they attach that infront of it being just a shark movie they better make it good.

These Jaws rumours pop up often , and never are more then that. You can trace them back to almost 2001 & they are just that. Dumb conjecture. I think Jaws is a classic, but Im up for a remake. I mean King Kong is just as good a classic & Universal remade that, so why not Jaws?

And then it all falls in place at the end. Williams performs the Jaws theme infront of Steven, Universal goes for a "wide" release for the first time ever, the audience line the blocks and Steven is in on the beach building sandcastles on opening weekend.

Then you see Lucas about to b**** slap Jaws with Star Wars. :oldrazz:

I loves me some Jaws, I really do. In fact, I'm a shark movie ****e, but I'd rather see the MEG movie long before this. *Shrug*

Yes you hear George talk about the next film he's going to make and then the movie ends with the sounds of water hitting the sand just like in JAWS.
