That right there is the problem.

Let go what you expect. Same thing happened with the Joker, he was a radical departure from the comic book Joker most people know, but he was great.

Not really.

White face, red, "disfigured" smile, green hair, purple suit, very skinny, and psychotic.

Only thing really different about him was that he didn't use gimmicks or Joker venom.

Eisenberg is the exact opposite of how Lex has been portrayed in most comics and other media for quite some time, physically.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Made this quick manip on my phone while sitting and doing my laundry.

If people want to allude to the billionaire prick he portrayed in The Social Network that's fine. I can kind've see that. However, anyone who doesn't want to give Aaron Sorkin credit for bringing that out in him is naive.

After seeing the writing treatment pivotal roles got in MoS, I'm quite concerned.

So Lex is going to look like a 20 year old smartass, looking like he could lose an arm wrestling fight against the new Dick Grayson?

This is stupid. I can see what they're going for because of how Jesse acts. But i dont like the actor. It will do its job in the sense that ill be annoyed by the villain, wanting Superman to strangle him. But this tells me that im just going to hate Lex Luthor and not like anything that he does.

He's the same age as Cavill but he looks like he would be in the Teen Titans.

Thank God for the brilliant Alfred casting.

Definitely takes the edge off.

Phoenix's reaction to hearing the trades report that the studio wanted him for Lex Luthor

One of Batman's villains is probably going to be in this and I bet you the casting announcement will also bring great furor.

I think Black Mask or Penguin would be great team up with Lex. Or maybe the Riddler.

Wow, unexpected, big time......................... Not what i expected. I expected Joaquin Phoenix or someone older, a business type person that has that presence. He could have been Jimmy olsen............ this is weird

This is why I dislike it. Let's look at the rumors:
Cranston
Strong
Phoenix
Elba
Denzel
The guy who plays the Diggle dude on Arrow
The Rock

and ****ing Eisenberg gets picked? I mean how the **** did this happen? He could work for Jimmy Olsen but as Lex?

Off hand... meh.

Thinking about All Star Superman's Lex, it seems on point.

Height is a moot point in filming, he's a good actor... just hope he can pull of the genius while also being intimidating.

Okay fair enough. You make some good points.

But you have to remember that whilst we know nothing, we HAVE seen Man Of Steel. For those of us that weren't fans, it's hard for us to give them the benefit of the doubt this time.

Oh well, for the people disappointed with Man of Steel they can rejoice that Terrio is now on board at least.

I liked it fine but I get the concerns.

Last time I checked Eisenberg was born in 1983 so that would make him 30. What is this 20 year old Lex B.S? Is 30 considered 20 now?

The only thing he has in common with Jesse is they're both short.

Are you seriously treating the rumours as if it was Snyder/WB's actual casting choices?

That has nothing to do with Ledger. If Ledger had never been the Joker, everything else you said would still be true. People should always give actors a chance to prove themselves, because that's the decent thing to do. Not because Heath worked out as the Joker.

Plus, people constantly saying "Remember Heath as the Joker lol" whenever anyone has even a minor reservation is annoying.

Actually his point makes sense. The Ledger thing should make people wait to see the person in the role before condemning the casting.
Yes people should give actors/actresses a chance...but that's not the world we live in. We live in a world where one tiny bit of information deemed good or bad will make or break a film in some people's minds.

So people saying remember Ledger aren't saying this is going to be just as awesome...they are saying to give him a chance before you condemn him. Remember on reddit when they posted all the people's negative responses to Ledger's casting...quite a few were from here.

WOW! Just heard about this this morning.

I don't doubt Eisenberg's range, that man is a PHENOMINAL actor. However, I will say he is a little young for the role... I guess that plays a factor on how I think Lex should be Kent's age or around there. But it's daring! Very interesting...! :word:

Phoenix was said to be interested. We know that 100%. Cranston has said he would love to play Lex in interviews. The Rock has said he is involved in a DC movie.

The others maybe rumors but those are 3 guys I would pick before Eisenberg and that are better choices.

I'm not going to lie to you all, even after years of saying "I'm all for re-interpretation/wait until the movie comes out": I'm ****ing devastated. Phoenix or Cranston were perfect for a comic-style Luthor. I guess after all that, they were never officially up for the part, because Snyder and co. seem to have been going a completely different way from the outset.

Eisenberg was great in The Social Network (as was everything in that movie... other than the sloppily done face replacement for Hammer and his double) but damn, I think that's all he can play. And he always looks like he's on the verge of crying... which Lex just... ugh.

I'll get used to it. I usually do. And hopefully when more info on all this starts to come out, it makes more sense. But geez... this movie has to do a lot to get me back on board. I was really looking forward to finally getting the Lex of the Modern Age comics.

------------------

Okay. Done. *phew* Now, movie - start up your long path to winning me back, please. :)

Oh, for the record - I was never against Ledger. Never. However, I was against both Hathaway and Adams, and I ended up loving both of them, so here's hoping...

Although Heath's joker was true to the spirit of the character, his appearance was a departure from the comics; he wore makeup, he had scars for a smile, he was just generally more gothic than we were used to. Ask yourself what is the spirit of Lex Luthor. Brilliant, wealthy, power hungry, obsessed with beating Superman. He doesn't need to be strong. He doesn't even need to be bald. Those are superficial attributes. There's still plenty of room for Eisenberg to inhabit the spirit of the character just as Heath did IMO.

I'm sorry but, Eisenberg>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Rock.

Yep. I don't really dislike Goyer, but I think he's a much better story man than he is someone who should be crafting the final product/draft.

Yeah, I'm not on the Goyer hate bandwagon either, but I definitely think he is very hit-and-miss (MoS might be the best single example of his unevenness, with so much both terrible and great stuff in the same film) and has shown to be way more even and effective when being more of a general outliner and idea man.

Goyer's ideas and knowledge being merged with Terrio's writing skill could turn out to be gold, script-wise.
