BvS Jesse Eisenberg IS Lex Luthor - Part 1

I don't get this "Lex is", stated like one fact. Like with most characters, Lex has and will come in many different variations.

Now your personal preferences for the character is another thing (personally, like with all things, I dig many different versions) but that's not how it is treated as sometimes, and it bugs me.

That really gets on my nerves too.

His height, 5'7", is all that concerns me. I wanted a physically imposing Lex. I feel like at 30, his age is fine. And he had the acting chops, etc.

But, Bane was also played by a man who was 5'9" and looked fierce and intimidating and Tony Stark is played by a guy no taller than 5'9" either....so I'm sure his height won't be an issue if they wanted to make him seem more imposing. He'll never convincingly be a physical force, but they can make it so we take him seriously.

Still, wanted Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt or Joaquin Phoenix for the part. Someone over 6".

I'll wait and see. It is inspired.

Only thing Im concerned about is his voice lol.

Does anyone have a problem with Zuckerberg being an influence for Lex? I mean Lex would ****ing *****slap Zuckerberg. All Zuckerberg did was create Facebook. Lex wouldn't even acknowledge him.

Yeah, Lex and Zuckerberg (either the real Zuckerberg or the movie one) don't actually have a whole lot in common. "Sociopath" isn a huge stretch for Zuckerberg (and kind of a stretch for Luthor, I think there's more to him than that), and beyond that they're both rich dudes and that's about all they have in common. Zuckerberg is a pretty run on the mill young entrepreneur. More successful than most, but he's basically a rich guy with a bad attitude and some socialization problems. Lex Luthor is a visionary. For good or ill, he's a man standing in the gaze of history. He's, like, equal parts John D. Rockafeller and Carl Sagan, with just a dash of Whitey Bulger. That ain't Zuckerberg, not by a long shot.

Only WB with the way things are looking for Superman/Batman, could announce a perfect pick with Irons as Alfred and then a "what the ****" pick with Eisenberg as Lex. No matter how much you support him, don't tell me your first thought wasn't "what the ****".

I can imagine the reaction to be like this.

Guys, guess who's playing Lex Luthor in the new Superman movie?

This guy, right?

I'm think it's funny that certain fanboys are so egotistical that they believe that WB are casting their 200million dollar Superhero epic to spite them.

This movie has got the most out-of-this-universe casting I've ever seen. Man, I realize Heath Ledger shocked & flipped people on their asses with his Joker performance, but is intentionally making risque/surprising casting choices the thing now or something (especially with this film)?

I didn't even go through the entire posts from a thread ago, but I'm sure its several that thinks this is the greatest casting choices for a movie ever or whatever :hmm Just as you see folks quick to crap over every single choice ("Batman should not be taller than Superman". This movie will suck"). There are some that will be spoon fed & seemingly love any & every thing as well: "Aziz Ansari is playing Doomsday :) perfect casting!!! This movie is going kick all kinds of ass!!! DC is on the ball now".... I don't think they can make a casting choice that some people on here WON'T like at this point. I guess people are saving that venom for the Ninja Turtles movie. Now that's a movie that is getting picked apart for every casting choice...

Anyway, my opinion: it's hard to see him playing Lex. I'll say this, can't wait to see what comes of this now. It can only be either a train wreck or brilliant. Bring on the next insane casting choice :woot:

Why does Lex need to bulk up exactly? God the things people moan about

Btw whats with the three poll options? Where's the I'm 50/50 option?

Part of me would love it if they flat out said that. :hehe:

This just reminds me of the Topher Grace casting as Eddie Brock. You just know it's a bad fit.

So are even going as far as to saying WB/DC do not like us and devoting themselves fully to Marvel Studios.

It's funny because this morning I was thinking "if Phoenix was cast as Lex, this could be the greatest CBM ever". Phoenix is the only actor besides DDL, that could match Ledger's performance.

AND THEN ****ING JESSE EISENBERG IS ANNOUNCED AND IT FELT LIKE A KICK IN THE BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the general consensus on this casting? When I first heard the news my first thought was ehhhhhh.

Very surprised by this choice, and I HATE EISENBERG. So this is a begrudgingly great choice and now I know how hopeful feels at the thought of Guy Pearce as Lex.

Totally agree.

I actually thought this was a joke when I read it, considering I saw it posted by IGN initially. Then I realised it's not April yet.

*sigh*

Probably a good 65-70% of people are prostrating themselves before this news.

The rest are none too pleased.

A 5'7 125lb Lex Luthor.....

And this is why DC will never be on Marvels level in terms of live action films folks.

This just reminds me of the Topher Grace casting as Eddie Brock. You just know it's a bad fit.

Except that Eisenberg is a better actor than Grace and Lex is a better character than Brock.

I was shocked at first and on the fence. I'm still on 50-50 now but the shock has worn off, in my head I can see how it might work and how it might not. So I'm just gonna wait and see.
