That wouldn't make sense though. If we assume that considerable amount of time passed between Superman vs. Zod, and Clark being hired by Daily Planet, then how does a Superman in exile story make sense without some flashbacks?
Agreed I don't see it either.

Funny to think that RDJ almost played Lex Luthor at one point.

I could see a similar smart alec-ness with Eisenberg somewhat. Kind of makes sense when Lex Luthor should be like an evil Tony Stark anyway...but darker...

Anyone who thinks they're a god is an idiot though.

Lex isn't an idiot. He's a pragmatist.

He's a smart idiot, otherwise he would not be a villain. And yeah, Smallville was so bad, that many consider Michael Rosenbaum's Lex the best live action version of the character so far. :word:

Now go on hating and bashing since it seems you have nothing better to do.

Michael Rosenbaum on Jesse Eisenberg being cast as Lex Luthor.

Or dad had a stroke which left him debilitated, but Lex likes having him around so he can gloat in front of him.
Yeah no, rather he just off him.
Hey so.......

.....would anyone like to also see a Mercy Graves?

I think I would.
Always been a Mercy Graves supporter. :o
Always like Jessica Biel or Carla Cugino in the role.

He has a point about Ledger. Before Joker we were giving that dude all kinds of **** on this board.

Screen Junkies has a pretty amusing "supercut":

Lex Luthor in his post crisis persona has been viewed not only as a powerful business man, but also as a sex symbol. Eisenberg is many things, but not that.

I think Lex's appearances in TAS, Lois and Clark, and Smallville have all shown that side of him. Not to say that's the only interpretation, but it is the most recent.

Again this has nothing to do with his acting chops. This is just a mis-cast.

I think some people would like to downplay this but it was pretty bad after the Ledger announcement.

Genius casting.

At first I thought..."damn....no Phoenix or Denzel or McConaghey"....and than I thought Eisenberg will actually do probably wind up doing a bang up job as Lex.

Snyder must have blown away by a screentest/audition or something since they couldn't get Phoenix. Eisenberg will do fine. Much in the way Rosenbaum killed it as Lex in Smallville.

Yes. Lex definitely needs to have sex appeal. It was great in TAS and JL/JLU, one of the things I love about the character.

Some of you guys are so slow. Zack Synder is trying to create a different DC universe, therefore his Lex is DIFFERENT!!!! It appears Zac wants a young, skinny, bill gates like villain. Not some suave and built super villain. I am glad he is doing this. Who wants the same thing over and over. The cartoons have done the best job of portraying the Lex some of you guys want, so why attempt the same on film?

The best version of Lex Luthor has never been attempted in live action - why shouldn't this be done?

Well, by the time the movie is released he will be 32 assuming the sequel is 2to 3 years after that he
Could be 35 by the time the sequel is released ,old enough for you?
It is a non problem.

No creative person wants to mimic someone elses creation. Everyone that's career has advanced far enough to do a major blockbuster will want to put their own mark on the characters legacy.

After having sometime to think...

I can't support it still, I'm sorry. Jesse was good at playing Mark in Social Network but playing Mark and playing Lex is 2 different things. Marks an ******* and Lex is only one to Superman. How is Superman suppose to take this guy serious? How is Metropolis suppose to take this guy serious? When I see Lex I don't see Jesse and when I see Jesse I don't see Lex.

When I see Affleck, I kind of see Batman. When I see Cavil I see Superman. I don't see Lex.

This has nothing to do with Ledger. We had no idea what Ledger's Joker would look like until photos came out of him in the makeup. With Jesse, what you see is what you get. He would be a good Riddler thinking about it but he is not right for Lex.
