Aside from Clark meets Bruce that was my favourite moment from the trailer

If he wasn't so theatrical it would be to me as well, but I'm really not feeling Lex in this trailer. Funny, because I found him enjoyable in last one. I guess I just wanted a balance to his hammy moments with some seriousness. I'm pretty sure there will be more serious moments of him in the film though.

The only time you see behind the facade is that scene with Lois and when he's bringing in Zod's body and is like a mad scientist.

Possibly, but he is still bringing too much of that erratic energy in these scenes for my liking.

What do you mean by energy? Because his exchange with Lois consisted of him literally just standing there and whispering.

And looking all around him and doing the silly hand gesture.

I'm tired of zany, over the top, scenery chewing from Lex on film. I've seen it and never enjoyed it in any Superman film. If it is a facade then that's quite clever. Because the Luthor I don't want to see is potentially hiding the Luthor I do want to see.

Don't worry man from all the quotes from Jesse and Zack Snyder about the portrayal of Lex, you'll get your wish.

"Devil"...Doomsday or Darkseid reference? Both? Does lex see himself as Lucifer?

I think it provides a nice contrast to Clark, who still seems to be in a pretty serious stressful period.

Personally I'd like to see Superman becoming lighter and less troubled as the films progress while Lex becomes more and more dark and reserved as his hatred grows with every defeat and setback.

Maybe there's something of a reverse Mandarin here? Once his hair goes, the theatrical Lex goes too.

I still think we haven't seen the real Lex. Jesse himself said his public image is a facade. Plus we know he's bald at some point. I am hoping that is when the real Lex emerges.

I don't like what I've seen of Jesse's Lex so far. But I'll keep an open mind.

I didnt like Jesse' Lex in the comic con trailer, but I think he's great in the new one.

He seems to want to really hide his evil nature by trying to act all friendly and jolly and warm but he has no idea how to be those things so he overacts in the process. The result is that he is actually acting more like a creepy guy than the jolly and friendly guy he wants others to see him as.

I actually like it, but we can only judge when we see its context in the movie.

Lex's lines are fantastic though the delivery makes some people overlook the dialogue. It does rekindle my dormant longing for Joaquin Phoenix.

Our short lived bromance is over :lmao:

I think when we see the film as a whole we'll see the full performance and it will all come together.

This guy gets it.

I don't know what to think of his performance in the trailer. At least it's a little bit more interesting or comedic. If he was more serious, it could be boring. Three stoic guys just standing there giving each other cold looks.

The thing that really annoys me is the Riddler comparisons. Like c'mon, you know you're only saying that because he has shoulder length red hair.

no, that's being said because it's painfully obvious that eisenberg is a much better fit for the riddler role and they completely dropped the ball and cast him as lex instead.

plus " that is a three syllable word for any thought too big for little minds " is a pretty riddleresque line in itself.

Jesse doesn't seem anymore zany than Rockwell as Hammer in IM2 and I remember people mostly liking him.

There's hope. This. We haven't seen this. This gives me hope.

Really? With that annoying whiny voice and how he just comes off as a total twerp? Hammer was more of a wannabe and a loser which was exactly what he was intended to be as he wasn't the main villain anyway. Plus he could dance really well.
