Iron Man 3 JESSICA CHASTAIN In Talks For a Leading Role - UPDATE: Not Anymore...

Interesting.

Random: I wonder if Madame Masque will ever make it into a movie someday? Probably not.

She's probably playing Maya Hansen, by that description

Awesome news, a woman with such beauty and talent.

With Chastain as Hansen and Pearce as Killian it's looking more and more likely that Kingsley might be a reconstituted Mandarin

I love Jessica Chastain.

Now bring back Favs as Happy and Kate Mara as Bethany Cabe and i will be happy.

Jon Favs..will he be available due to his commitments to The Magic Kingdom?

Joke Response - Replacing Paltrow as Pepper.

Real Response - Great!

damn she would of been a great iris west in flash

I haven't hear a single word about MK in a while, so I suppose Favs is working on pre-production only (that's why he left IM3). But I think that for a cameo or a small role he will be avaible. Feige and Favreau have said that they were opened for it.

She's a fantastic actress and would make a great addition to the cast.

I'm sure that Maya Hansen is the obvious choice, but Marvel has mixed-n-matched characters in the past. Whiplash combined elements of Crimson Dynamo and his namesake; it's also possible that Marvel will flesh out Maya's character more than what she was in Warren Ellis' book. So maybe she'll have elements of Bethany Cabe and/or Madame Masque as well....here's hopin'.

A plot about nanotechnology, and now, an actress of Jessica Chastain's calibre? Janet Van Dyne, anyone?

AKA The Wasp.

Marvel is going for some talented people, huh? Amazing cast for this one. Love it!

Yes! I've read the news that Kingsley and Pearce were potentially joining the film but I have to say Chastain was the one that got my attention. She has already established herself as one of the most versatile and promising actresses we have today. Suffice to say, I'd be more than happy if she joins the cast.

it sounds like maya hansen to me.

Maya Hansen "Plus." ;)

I just can't see IM3 being a literal read of Extremis --- the story is too adult to sit well with the all-ages demographic the MCU has cultivated, and it's frankly too short and dull to be cinematic superhero fare.

Dr. Killian's role *has* to be enhanced --- no way in hell would they ask Guy Pearce to take on a role that would give him a no-dialogue blink-and-ya-miss-it walk-on (and fall-down) cameo --- so it stands to reason that Maya and Mallen will change significantly as well. In fact, I strongly, strongly doubt Mallen will even be in it --- he's wayyyy too controversial for Marvel Studios & Disney. Instead, they're likely to work someone else as the Extremis-ized(?) villain....and it'll probably be a "name" villain from 616.

Of course it won't be a page-for-page adaptation. I suspect Killian will be fused with elements of Mallen for his appearance on the big scree

I hated the second film but this cast is so good that I might give the series another shot.

I agree. Plus, I think that in addition to the 'Extremis' elements, they may be taking some elements from 'Haunted' in regards to the Mandarin if he's in.

Possibly. But to me, it creates a kind of redundancy to the storyline if Killian injects himself with Extremis. I think there *will* be a terrorist who is (willingly) given the nanotech, but it won't be a homegrown racist militia (too controversial for Marvel Studios & Disney).

It'll be Mandarin. (Who may or may not be played by Ben Kingsley. Or Andy Lau. Or whomever.) And this, to me, is a great way to explain his superpowers without having to resort to alien power rings or ancient Chinese mysticism, but instead to pure robotic and biomechanical technology.

I'm really hoping that the Mandarin still has the rings. Albeit, with a new origin for them where he built them himself instead of finding them on a crashed spaceship.
