The Dark Knight Jim Gordon Email

I got the email at 4:00 PM.

I called a number and gave a code from the Pizza mission, but it looks like not everyone here has an "active" phone. I did a couple of different things, like got "stung" by Gordon, but I also submitted the form to report possible corruption in the GCPD. Perhaps that's where they got the e-mail addresses from for this.

Has anyone checked the gotham national bank site? Would check myself - at work and shouldn't be batmanning. How can I resist?!

The ones who've recieved the mail try to figure out what to to next.:woot:

with the email from gordon, and the new email in Barhyte's inbox, potential leads mentioned seem to be:

http://www.gothampolice.com/secureinternaldocuments/mailmsg.aspx?msgid=84 - New Barhyte mail regarding Money Laundering Investigation

http://www.gothamnationalbank.com/ - banks mentioned in Gordon email.
http://www.rossisdelicatessen.com/default.htm - only "Bistro" type shop in gotham - mentioned in Barhyte email.
http://acmesecuritysystems.com/ - surveillance related to bistro

Unknown "buddy" of Gordon in "Western" - Remains anonymous at this point.

I think the key at this point is finding out who this buddy from western is, and figuring out what bistro story it is that he confirmed.

The only thing about this email that really stands out to me is:
"keep a lookout for anything out of the ordinary that may signal a money laundering scheme. Overheard conversations, suspicions of stores you frequent, etc."

Most of it seems pretty straightforward, they've been working on the issue of money laundering operations, people are being told to keep their eyes open for anything suspicious and report it if they feel it's significant.
I point out the portion of the email that I have because MAYBE it's signifying WE particularly keep a watch on stores and conversations.
Maybe it's important to think about places like Betty's house of pies, and consider any conversations we may be able to keep track of... such as those found in emails, or phone messages.
This could be a primary focus, and it wouldn't hurt to look into with what we have - and with anything we may receive in the next little while

to add to that ^
maybe just the idea that we got a random email is to hint at something weird concerning emails, like we may find in Barhyte's account. I don't know, i'm just thinking outside of the box haha

To all MCU personnel,
With the probe into money laundering operations of the Gotham mobs well underway, I wanted to thank you for all your hard work and ask you all to keep your eyes open.
We all know that the mob can be quite ingenious when it comes to money laundering schemes. MCU must be just as ingenious in trying to root these schemes out.
Please, in your everyday life – as well as your work on the job – keep a lookout for anything out of the ordinary that may signal a money laundering scheme. Overheard conversations, suspicions of stores you frequent, etc. Everything is fodder for this critical investigation.
If you have any leads, tips, or information that can help the Major Crimes Unit crack this murky network of banks, businesses, and the people who run them, do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks.
Jim

I checked it, but no changes so far.

With the Gotham school site- today is the last day of school- why would there be a field trip to "carnivalland" in the middle of the summer?

"Don't forget the 8th Grade Field Trip to Gotham Carnivalland on July 11th. Parent permission slips will be mailed out on July 7th. See you there, and have a safe, sane and satisfying summer!"

I know it is off-topic, but I didn't want to start a whole new thread.

You do know that Jake Karnassian's wife and children were found dead at Carnivalland, right? And he's the groundskeeper, right? And his I.D. was stolen, right?

From the 2nd issue of The Gotham Times:

I think your instincts are correct, Pseudobulbar - if not for the money laundering, something else, definitely.

I haven't followed every bit of info released via the viral, so forgive me if this has already been resolved. But since you brought it up, I did some searching, and it's interesting.

Could that be what Garcetti rolled over on?

high-lighted some things to note from the GCN.com story:

In a stunning turn of events, former District Attorney Roger Garcetti is rumored to have turned state's evidence in a corruption probe.

Garcetti, who was formerly reported to have been indicted in the probe, will form the lynchpin of Dent's case against purported mob kingpin Sal Maroni.

Sources say Garcetti is suspected in involvement in a corruption ring that reached into the upper reaches of City Hall and the battered police department.

Garcetti is said to have operated in mob circles with the codename "Iceman" and is purported to have played a major role in several criminal conspiracies.

"The extent of Garcetti's alleged involvement is a surprise, but not the fact that he had mob ties," said Walt DeFabrizio, long time Gotham political commentator. "Garcetti has been dogged by rumors of mob connections for years."

DeFabrizio said Garcetti may have turned state's evidence in an act of vengeance. "There's no way he's going to let himself get taken down. If turning state's evidence keeps him out of jail, he's going to spill the beans."

One source told GCN that Garcetti may have made connections with the mob while he served as legal counsel to the policeman's union.

Only time will tell whether those beans form a trail that leads to mob involvement in the GPD, kickbacks, bribes, money laundering, or any number of other crimes.
But one thing is for certain - this is one mob trial that will certainly keep Gotham jumping for weeks and months ahead.

I'd say it's entirely possible. ICEMAN in particular struck me as something that may be worth noting.

i JUST got the email llol...

wonder if we'll be gettin another tast from Jimbo soon

As I was just mentioning in another thread, this may be obvious to most but, I really think the joker is closely tied in with any carnival business. Especially since all of the sort of game sites we've had from the joker are carnival games and whatnot... I think it's a huge indication that he is involved there, and if not then i'll be a bit disappointed because it seems like that could prove pretty fun.
Haha, imagine if they had a travelling carnival kind of like the Dentmobile going from city to city :p

Is there any word on Jim's response to anyone's replies?

Haha, that would be awesome!

Yeah, the wiki page says that The Joker stole Karnassian's I.D. so... that leads me to believe he's going to try to mess with the school - hence the scheduled "field trip" to Carnivalland, which is likely under his control.

I think it may be a semi-spoiler - perhaps The Joker is going to go after the children of Gotham - what better way to push Batman over the edge than to prey on those we perceive as most vulnerable. Will he kill to save children?

Could be. Could just be total nonsense spewing from my lips (erm, fingers).

I've not received a response yet, but I only wrote a little while ago. It seems like if there is anyone response, it will either be hand-written (hard to believe) or perhaps an auto-response will be sent later (or one generic response sent to everyone who replied to the e-mail).

elt's try to avoid speculation on that level in this thread.

The GothamUSD has nothing to do with money laundering.
