Oldboy didn't wow me, but I did love that one continuous shot with the hammer.
I must watch Versus soon.

I think he's very inventive....he does good things with editing, musical presentation, dialogue, etc.....I just get real tired of hearing every curse there is and it's million variations in all of his movies. He;s shown he can write wonderful dialogue between characters, I just wish he would go that one extra step and show that he doesn't have to rely upon the F word to get his point across.

But that's how people actually talk. Especially in the worlds that Tarantino's movies are set in. The idea of those characters, in those scenarios and worlds, NOT cursing every other word is absurd.

Most people I knows casual, every day conversations are peppered with lots of F words. And B words, C words, and pretty much the whole damn alphabet.

Especially Irish people.

Thank you IrishAvenger :) I can't see the video though, I'm on my stinky phone!

Properly best, the video is very inappropriate!

Yeah, Christian Bale is very inapproprite.

Doesn't mean I want to hear it. For many people...acting that way is not the norm...many of us do not like it...I won't listen to it in real life, I will not pay to hear it.

If a character says a curse word every other word they say...what is the point? There is no shock value after the 5th time in a minute. It does not make him look tougher or meaner. To me it makes him a laughable buffoon trying ever so hard to ACT like he's tough like some animal you see on a nature show.

I personally do not hang around people who talk like that. Anyone can say the occasional curse word or even throw out a good stream of them in certain occasions. But people who just do it over and over because they have no control....I have no need to spend my time around them.

I don't see him as particularly attractive. All about RDJ, the Marvel alternative :woot:

Happy birthday Hawkingbird
We're two hours away from it in my time zone, why wait?

I'm with C. Lee about cussing in movies, sometimes it could be funny, films flooding the ears with them get on my nerves

Hehe that's so cool! Well, if we're going by mine, it's only 7:00.
It sucks that I'm going to be asleep for the SHH awards :( I'm unsure if I will even have time to look at the results tomorrow.

Wait, 7PM? It's that time here aswell. I thought you were American, haha.

Anyway, I'm watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade tonight.

I agree with this 100%. It comes across as immature and silly when people do it in real life, and the same in movies.

Yeah, but a majority of the characters in Tarantino's movies are horrible people you probably wouldn't want to spend time around anyway. We're looking at thieves, assassins, mobsters, and other hard bastards who likely would spend a lot of their time trying to sound tougher or meaner than the next person. I doubt Tarantino peppers his dialogue with 10,000 F-bombs for shock value; I think he does it because that's how he'd expect people like that to talk.

There's an interesting movie from the 60's. The CHASE starring Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda, and Robert Redford. This was before there was much cursing in movies, so cursing isn't the point of this post.

The main plot, Robert Redford has escaped from jail (in for a crime he may or may not have done) and is believed to be heading back to the small southern town he is from. A group of "good old boys" talk of killing him if he shows up. They are loud, obnoxious, rude, crude, and spend all their time talking and acting tough. But there is a character in the movie....he holds sway over a group of would be tough guys. They talk up what they plan to do....and then turn to him and wait for a nod of approval or dismissal. The character never says a word in the movie....but he controls a mob and they can't make a movie without his silent OK. To me....that is the guy to be feared....not the guy screaming the F word every other minute.

In other words....I feel Tarintino uses cursing as a crutch. He uses it in place of more creative writing.

In interviews I've read Tarentino swears a lot. Maybe he thinks other people do it all the time, too.

Cursing profusley is what you do in high school--or as a fledgling writer--to seem edgy and hip.

The Hobbit was pretty good; I think some criticisms about Azog and the Great Goblin looking fake were a bit overblown. Looking forward to parts II and III.

Great Goblin wasn't fake looking at all. Azog looked a little computer gamey to me in some scenes. But yeah, The Hobbit movie was fantastic.
