Huh?

Opinion has been split. There is nothing to be vindicated for. It hasn't been you guys vs everyone else. A lot of folks were in a wait and see approach. Those who liked SR optimistic for MOS and those that didn't like it (hmm both of you?) optimistic for JL. I'm optimistic for live action Superman. That is key. People see that as a simple point but once one of the films come out, it will dawn on you what I mean :o
Ahh..Matt and I have been severly attacked for stating we believe a JLA movie was going to get made before a SR2 was, even before the WB commissioned the script. And yes, a lot of people got hostile towards us. some where either or, but a lot of the SR likers were vehement against us and thought we were crazy. Put that in your piece pipe and smoke it.

Severely attacked? There are as many on the JL side as their is on the SR side. I may be the only one that simply cares about the character of Superman continuing because I know it could easily turn into another 10-15 years of no live action Supes otherwise. Get JL or MOS done now damn it :o

Umm...I don't remember people being hostile to Matt because he was just like most people, we really don't know if Justice League of America or Man of Steel will get chosen and whomever picks a side is bound to eat a lot of crow. I remember he even said that to you.

buggs wants to feel like he won a battle... only problem the battle didn't exist  Fans have just been split. Eh

I never said you were. I never listed any names. But there were those here that were is all I am saying. If I were to list names, I would say read my sig to see the big monkey's I am referring to. Also, one that is permanently banned from here and keeps trying to sneak back.

I know people have been hostile to you for the things you've said. I'm saying that the hostility towards Matt isn't as great as you say it is.

Matt downright said he wasn't placing bets on which film will get made like most people have and it's still not safe enough to place a bet in.

Thing is, some of the posters you speak of are known for being level headed. Don't you think it could have something to do with HOW you say things? Kind of shoving opinions down someones throat will get the reaction you say you've received at times.

No. They are on my ignore list for a reason. And they are only level headed with people who like SR. Talk to people who are detractors of SR and they will pretty much say the same thing I am saying. And even when you say stuff nicely, they usually come back with a smart allec remark. That is why I do not do any sort of diplomacy with them. Even after they knew they were on my ignore list, and even when I put in my sig that they were, they still did the stupid remarks. So take what you will out of that.

Matt has been attacked just as much as I have. He is just more diplomatic about it then I am. I am one of those who will treat you the same way you treat me. There are a lot of SR detractors that I have had very nice and constructive conversations with. We have severely disagreed, but since they were being nice and not shutting any opinion that wasn't there own down, we have had great, pleasant, intelligent conversations. And at the end of the day, even though we disagreed, we discussed it civily. It's the very vocal, jerk-stalkerish ones that I have a problem with. But he has been attacked just as much.

It's not just me saying it. Someone who came in from another hero board here who was never the Superman Returns board recently said that the SR supporters are the worst of the film supporters. They don't want to hear anything bad about their film. And that was a guy just visiting from other boards.

No, he hasn't been attacked just as much because he's a lot more level headed. He doesn't show how he feels about Superman Returns down people's throats and he isn't repetitive. Also he doesn't beleive that Man of Steel won't happen and Justice League of America will happen simply because he hated Superman Returns.

The fact is that we have no idea what will happen. Justice League of America could get made or it could completely fall apart. Man of Stell could get made or it could completely fall apart. Both might get made (though not in the same year obviously), and both might fall apart. We just don't know.

Technically, Man of Steel is farther in development than Justice League of America. It has a director officially announced who is free once Valkrye is done (He's no longer doing the Mayor of Castro Street). It has producers. It has the sets for the Daily Planet, the Kent Farm, New Krypton, and Metropolis which haven't been taken apart yet. It has a script, and if not, it's almost done. It has a cast (Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Sam Huntington, Frank Langella, and James Marsden).

However, Justice League of America is getting on the fast track. It too has a script. It has a director, even though it hasn't been announced. It has producers apparently. It preparing for casting and pre-production.

We also have to take a look at previous Warner Bros. projects such as Superman Lives, Batman vs. Superman, Batman: Year One, Superman: The New Movie, and Superman Flyby. All of these were in stages right at, more ahead, or just a little below where both these films are. They both can fall apart at any time.

I had a poster tell me one time that I see fire when there is just smoke. Just make sure you aren't jumping the gun with people. I've been guilty of that myself in the past and even read through some comments from like 3 years ago while searching for a pic... I found myself saying "damn, well I can see where I did blow that up over nothing"

Superman fans happen to be the most passionate and most split which causes an interesting dynamic.

If you are including me in that statement, I have never been a fan of a Justice League movie. I think its a really bad idea. Yes, I don't like Superman Returns either, but that doesn't mean I'm behind a JL movie just because it could mean the end of Singer's franchise. I'm just saying that it looks like thats whats going to happen right now

And I will say I blew up a lot too. But when people make comments about you having sex with your mom, having a tube from your ass to your mouth, or posts about you being tied up and dragged behind a car till you die by Singer and Doherty, well you get the idea.

I'm not keen on the reported script

Major spoilers if true!

I call BS though, can you imagine the budget needed for that story and those actors!!

Interesting....but the casting is just rumour and it will probably never happen.

Gibson is possible....since he is ol pals with Miller. It still seems like it will be a stupid thing to recast Routh and Bale. It doesn't make sense.....

I'm all for Biel as WW though!

Gyllenhaal would probably be Batman.

All the Superman Returns sets have been destroyed because WB were/are planning on filming the sequel in Vancouver.

I think someone reported they saved one set, the Dailey Planet set. But that is easy to modify into another movie. They reused sets on Star Trek all the time. The room Spock got killed in in Star Trek 2 was reused as a Klingon set in Star Trek 4 when Spock figures out it is humpback whales.

if there is footage it will come out.
if not this year then maybe in 20 years.

was he really filmed as superman?
Yes he was they has test footage of him the the Superman outfit that he was to wear for the movie for like promo shots and all.

Singer is still doing TMOCS. The Gus Van Sant project about Harvey Milk with Penn and Damon is the one that's in competition with Singer/WB's to get made.

It has producers. It has the sets for the Daily Planet, the Kent Farm, New Krypton, and Metropolis which haven't been taken apart yet.

Per Steve Younis, all of the sets were dismantled, some like the Kent farm were destroyed. others are sitting in crates that could allegedely be shipped to Canada.

It has a script, and if not, it's almost done. It has a cast (Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Sam Huntington, Frank Langella, and James Marsden).

There's no script for MOS yet, at least not one that WB has bought into.

Cast, crew, a script, The Man of Steel is basically ready to be made if Warner gives it the thumbs up. The script is still being worked on, just like Justice League's. But Justice League still needs to find a cast, finalize it's crew, etc.

I misunderstood the article, my bad. But still the fact that van Sant's project is much further ahead can really hurt The Man of Castro Street.

all wishful thinking buddy

I have my reservations about this project but i must compliment WB on getting themselves one heck of creative team with with Miller and Barrie M. Osborne. A movie this size needs this kind of experience to fall back on.
Exactly for example Superman Lives even has some footage of Cage as Superman before it was stopped. Although we will never see that footage.:(
The plug was pulled before actual principal photography started.
if there is footage it will come out.
if not this year then maybe in 20 years.

was he really filmed as superman?
Apparently he did an on camera test as Clark Kent (with wig and glasses) and did a costume fitting for one of the Superman costumes (black with silver shield) much like tests you see in the BTN blog 'Bespoke'. Not sure about flying tests though but i do know that they had already shot some plates in Chicago back in 1997.
http://www.illinoisbiz.biz/dceo/Bureaus/Film/FilmsInIllinois/ILfilms_1990.htm

One of the SR crew members mentioned in a interview that WB has a storing room where they have have all stuff from the failed attempts for Superman, Batman etc. It would be nice to see all that on a dvd someday.
Would they just confirm the movie already. It's like everyone else knows it's coming except them.
I concur.:o

It's wishful thinking that Man of Steel is out of the running. The fact is that there is absolutely no way to safely determine which one is getting made. We're seeing reports of Man of Steel over Justice League. Justice League over Man of Steel. And even both.

Get it through your head that there is a faction in Warner Bros that wants a Superman Returns sequel.

From what is being said is the WB is split in thirds where you have some wanting MOS and then some wanting JLA and then some wanting both.

Whatever dude. I have seen him heavily attacked and we have spoken in IM about it.

And MOS is not further along, and we are not hearing anything about MOS like you guys keep claiming. All we are really hearing anything about is JLA. And no those other productions were. Batman year one had a script that was rejected. It was only in script form. Superman lives was the closest to what JLA is now. It got canned because of Batman and Robin. Flyby had a second script and designs and a costume design, but not more than that. And I believe that JLA is a lot farther along then we know right now. The studio and the heads are behind JLA. Only Singer and a few execs are behind MOS. But all indications is that JLA is a go.

The thing is, JLA script is bought and paid for by WB. Mos is still just in development. They have not bought anything. And there is more movement on JLA then MOS. A hell of a lot more. Nothing is really being said at all about MOS. The only thing we are really hearing about is MOS. And, Miller has a good relationship with the WB. They are not going to let him start something that they are on the fence about. JLA will get made in the timeline they are saying. Trust me.
