Well that all depends on the rumors you hear. Some rumors are saying they (the half of the WB that wants JLA) are willing to end the Batman series as well for Justice League. Which is another reason why I think it is a mistake.
where did u hear this? it sounds like a load of bull, WB is not that stupid

I think the general movie going public will certainly wonder WTF?

When they don't see Bale as Batman.....guarantee it.

Proof....my girlfriend.....i consider her a part of the general movie audience and she WILL certainly ask me why Bale is not Batman when she hears about a a JL film being released.

Then I will have to tell her that WB's screwed up....
I really doubt it, why? because people still think begins was a prequel to batman 89

I hate when people think that general movie goers are stupid.

No wonder we keep getting crappy movies.

Nah....trust me....if they see someone like Ryan Gosling trying to play Batman.....they will wonder "WTF?? WHY?? Where is Bale??"....then you have to explain it all to them how WB's didn't want to wait until 2012 to make a JL film.....because there were worried about a strike that didn't happen. LOL

The other thing that bugs me is that having another actor play Batman when Bales TDK and eventual thrid Nolan film will be released within a year or two of eachother? That will cause the general movie going public wonder WTF....even more....

Remember when some cast an unknown for Superman fans were saying they don't need a known name to play Supes and that having an unknown is good enough because the Superman name will sell itself??

Those folks were wrong about that also.....

If this movie happens, and Barrie M. Osborne allows Batman to be in it, but get recast, I won't forgive this production and I will lose all respect for it and Osborne.

Recasting Batman in the upcoming Justice League movie is about as intelligent of a move as... let's say Fox decided to recast Wolverine in his upcoming spin-off movie. Sure, it wouldn't confuse anyone but it sure as hell would turn off a lot of people.

Exactly...

Recasting Batman isn't the problem. It's just a simple annoyance and a turn off, but there's a problem that will cause the confusion.

It's pretty obvious that there will be a Batman 3, even if Justice League of America happens. And there are reports that are saying that Man of Steel will still happen even if Justice League of America is made first.

Now you know why this is a problem? The problem is that we might have two people playing as Batman and Superman on the big screen.

All right, here's my proposition for buggs0268: if MOS is canned because of the impending JL production, feel free to crow your victory all you like. But if MOS gets the greenlight despite the JL production, then shut the hell up. No one gives a crap about you, all you do is find ways to constantly find ways to bash SR. We know you don't like SR and you're entitled to your opinion, but geez, you've been flogging the dead horse for far too long.

Your posts in the JL threads don't really add anything, only to keep saying "I'm right and you're wrong." Nothing is set in stone unless the production(s) are scrapped or filming starts. End of story.

You know..I don't know who you are. I have never spoken to you before and all of a sudden hostility. You are new here...so how do you know I have been flogging the horse for a long time? Hmmm. Wow. All this hostility about a movie. And actually, a lot of people like me here. Just the rabid supporters of SR like you don't like me. I guess that when things that I am pretty sure are going to happen coming true and your sequel never getting made can make a guy who loves that movie sad. Don't blame me when there is no sequel. Blame Singer and his soap opera, chick flick superhero movie for that.

Here is my proposition. I know you are going to be a pain making stupid comments like posts like the one above, so on the ignore list you go.

Ummmm....apparently he's been here since December of 2005 so he's not new.

Now before I start, I will admit to acting somewhat hostile to you. I had no reason to and I'm sorry for doing so. You are entitled to your opinions.

The reason why people like mclay18, El Payoso, etc. have been hostile to you is because you refuse to see the fact that Superman Returns isn't as hated as you think it is. You're very close minded when it comes to this issue. The majority of the viewing public liked it. The majority of critics liked it. It wasn't a failure at the box office.

You're also close minded on the production of the Superman Returns sequel production. Sites such as IESB, AICN, and Batman-On-Film have stated that it will be getting made. Singer and his crew have said it will be made right after Valkrye. The cast says that it will get made. And there are two factions in Warner Bros that want it to get made. Chances are that we are going to get both the Man of Steel and Justice League of America.

That is why people are hostile to you. You refuse to acknowledge anything that is pro-Superman Returns and anything that points to Man of Steel getting made.

I have said the entire time, and Showtime can back me up on this, that it is my opinion based on the information we are seeing that MOS wont be made. I have never said I know for a fact or anything like that. I have also posted that "if I am wrong, I am wrong" and Showtime can confirm that. But the fact is, the WB is going to go ahead with the 3rd Batman movie as they are already making two. But honestly, I do not see them making two different time lined Superman movies when they don't need to. And it will just confuse people. They haven't stated with MOS, so they aren't losing money on production and the like if they $hitcan it now. Honeslty, I do not see them making both. They are stuck with Batman sequels now, but not with Superman sequels.

And the thing is, they like the movie. I don't. I am not going to lie and pretend I like anything about it. And I have always stated that. The cast on a lot of movies that were supposed to get sequels and didn't say a lot of things. I will believe it when I see it. But you can not doubt that the only info we are getting, rumor or not, is on JLA.

And it is just a movie and they get too hostile. And I have never responded in kind until they had posted hostile towards me first. Like this guy above. I don't know him. Never spoke with him before and yet you see what you see. I am not making this stuff up. I don't even know the guy.

And some people like people are on my list for a reason. They would create a post attacking me on not liking SR, and then in the same post claiming I am taking the movie too seriously, and it is just a movie when it is a case of pot calling the kettle black. And many times they were responding to a post where I wasn't even attacking the movie. And I am not the only person who had that same problem with him. Others who have posted negative posts regarding SR had similar run in's with him and told me they put him on their ignore list too.

..?

Bryan Singer's own words from an interview before the movie was released. And articles have said that is was more Harlequin Romance novel than superhero movie.

I do remember him saying that. You have to admit, there was a hell of a lot more romance in the Donner movies. Pantie guessing games. Candlelit dinner in the fortress. Cuddling in bed. Even longer and cheesy flight scenes. Hell, the only time they even kissed in SR, dude was unconscious. I think Singer was just talking it up.

Actually, they'll still lose money on production of Man of Steel if it doesn't get made because they still have to pay Brian Singer who is signed on for the sequel.

And again, you're basing your information simply because we are hearing more about Justice League of America. You're ignoring that most of the reports and official statements are saying that Man of Steel will get made. You're ignoring that there is are factions in Warner Bros that want a Superman Returns sequel.

Also are you saying that two different time-lined Batmen aren't confusing, but two different time-lined Supermen is? That makes no sense at all.

Like I said, you're twisting information to meet your own personal opinion and ignoring very important facts such as those who want Man of Steel, statements from the cast and crew, and even history of projects that have fallen apart.

I think those factions are in the Singer camp and in the Millar/Gough camp. Of course Singer and Co. want to make the sequel because they feel they have unfinished business to cover. I am sure they also look at a popular JLA franchise being a threat to their empire. Millar and Gough feel slighted because they feel that Tom Welling/Superman was their creation and they want credit for it. In addition they weren't allowed to put the suit on their creation - now how bad would that feel? In any case these so called factions are actually powerless in this matter because they aren't the "Guardians of the WB Universe" (i.e. the guys with the green light powers).

No, the executives at Warner Bros. Reports are saying that there are several camps in Warner Bros. These are those who just want Justice League of America (Dan Lin is definetely in this one), those who just want Man of Steel, and those who want both films.

Of course the Singer camp, and the Smallville camp support Man of Steel. And Nolan's camp (which includes Christian Bale) has pretty much been confirmed to be anti-Justice League of America.

Wh... wha... what? :wow:

Hunter, the SV producers could give a rat's arse what happens or doesn't happen with MOS. LOL!! They just want to be duly compensated for Welling if he's cast in JLA. :ninja:

You're right about them giving a rats ass about the movie. But they have stated that they don't want Welling in Justice League of America and considering that Welling is rumored to be the frontrunner of the Superman role.

I think though that is will probably up to Welling if he wants to do it. If he does, then the Motion Picture division trumps the TV division. The TV division will use him in the movie to promote Smallville.

Yeah, that would probably happen if Welling is cast.

It's what I honestly think will happen if he accepts it. And they will use the last season as a see him as Clark for the last time before he becomes Superman in Justice League.

Mmm... based on the rumors, they're opposed to it because of money and principle. For six years they've been told what they can and cant do in terms of portraying Superman on their show, and now Warners wants Welling in the suit. His casting would also end the show this season, and that's $$$ lost for them. So there's a lot to piss and moan about from their POV. One poster over at CountingDown likened it to a bunch of kids fighting in a sandbox over who gets the Tonka truck. The analogy is funny and sad at the same time, because that's what it comes down to. But the future of MOS isn't an issue as far as the SV folks are concerned. Other than the "rules" that are already in place, MOS doesn't effect SV or its cast.

Well according to Obsessed with Film, the film is slated for 2009:

The studio has greenlit the project as their summer 2009 tentpole. Filming for the principals will take place in Sydney from February to June 2008 – George Miller was unsurprisingly listed as director in the info we got.
Auditions are starting up down under with Nikki Barrett (Baz Luhrmann’s Australia, The Proposition) hired to handle the casting in Australia. Ronna Kress (Beowulf, The Mummy 3) will oversee the entire casting process.
Oscar-winner Barrie M. Osborne (The Lord of the Rings, The Matrix) will take on producing duties; he’ll be joined by Miller’s partner Doug Mitchell.

Someone at Bluetights also brought this up:

Thing I'd add is: wasn't the reason SR filmed in OZ 'cos Warners had booked the Fox studio already for McG's film? The same reasoning for filming JLA in Australia could apply here. Studio space booked for MOS and yet JLA takes the slot instead.

they have now robotech. they should wait with JL.
