Well like I said, they care because its their job, their livelihood. We don't care, or care as much, because it doesn't affect us in the same way. Imagine someone at whatever job you have doing something that takes away from your job, takes credit for something you worked on, etc. Its the same situation here, so I can understand why comedians take offense to that. Its natural.

It probably has more to do with the cult of personality and people's fascination with celebrity status than you're admitting. It's why we have a kabillion Britney Spears threads and people who stalk celebrities and the National Enquirer and People magazine. Hell, we even have people who are famous just for being famous like Paris Hilton as if her very existence in the popular lexicon doesn't illustrate this phenomenon enough. I've always genuinely been fascinated by people who seem to become embroiled in these people's lives in popular culture that they don't even know. At all. Sometimes to the point that they neglect their own lives over it or even BASE their own lives around these people. At least on these boards, there is some level of interaction so I can understand to a certain extent why some of the things you're damning do happen. Yes, some of them are really pretty damn stupid and yes, a waste of time, too. But, they involve people who do interact with one another and "know" eachother to a certain extent. I really don't see tying the two things together, really.

Now that I can understand. But, really, it isn't even the integrity of anyone but the comedians in question. So, again, why invest so much in this celebrity feud on a personal level without even knowing these people at all?

Chappelle hasn't really messed up Comedy Central. If thats what you meant. Comedy Central still has Daily Show, Colbert Report, South Park, Reno 911, and I heard that the ratings for the Scrubs repeats are huge!

In this instance I don't really think it has anything do with celebrity fascination. The idea of someone being popular when they've stolen most of their material from other people is disgusting. But nobody gives a **** because it's Carlos Mencia and Joe Rogan.

I think if it was something similar involving people who are in the public eye more, then this thread would've made twice as many pages as it has thus far.

It sucks but I at least hope no one here is going to lose sleep over it.

No I meant Chappelle literally said "**** comedy central," in terms of continuing season three. Its really clear that Mencia was groomed as the quick racially based replacement. Unfortunately for the rest of us, Mencia lacked the thing that made Chappelle so special: talent.
