John Carpenter's The Thing.

This was one of the greatest films of the 80s. Right up there with Blade Runner. Unfortunately it came out at the same time as E.T.

The ending was great. It was nice to see a movie with the testiclular fortitude to refuse the tidy "wrap it all up" ending. The ending maintained the whole vide of not knowing who to trust, which was the whole point of the film.

Oddly enough, both Blade Runner and The Thing were crushed financially by that midget alien. :cmad:

Amazing movie nonetheless. I just wish a better DVD would be released. (You know, one with actual deleted scenes and such.)

I never liked Blade Runner until the directors cut came out.

One of the best horror movies I've seen! I love everything about it and the plot is quite ingenious, even though it's a remake. The ending was superb and sent chills down my spine.

It is a fantastic movie. Trully ahead of it's time in my opinion.

From the opening with that that dog being chased...... and the Norwegians who are after it for ..... well no reason is given at first... everything is so very shrouded in Mystery .... it really sets a fantastic tone.

The Blood Test maybe one of the most suspense laden anxiety stricken ending with pure terror moments ever concieved

I was suprised that there wasn't a single female actress in the film.It was an all male cast

John Carpenter's The Thing is one of my all-time favorite movies, I remember watching it the first time, it was so suspenseful for me and horrifying as well and i've been a fan ever since.

One thing I always liked about this movie was, as someone who's also a fan of the original, it very subtly hints back to that one when they find the lab... just subtly enough to play on your memories of the old one, and by showing the gory results that could be construed as having happened after the original movie finished, gives the whole thing this terrific darker vibe.

But regardless, best scene is still easily the blood test scene. I'm a hardcore horror movie fan who's seen it all.... and the first time I saw the blood test scene, even I jumped back, which just goes to show how amazingly ****ing effective that scene really is.

Hey, I just watched the movie again, and a thought struck me.

The creature only copies it's victims, right? Well, what happens to the victim's corpse afterwards?

*Edit.*

Sorry, I forgot the seen where Blair opens up the Thing's belly to reveal the dogs. It ingests them before copying them, right?

One of carpenters best and the best remake EVER imo :D love it and Kurt rules!

Great movie, I wish John would have a hand in remaking "They Live" great idea but terrible film.

I think this was the first horror movie I saw back in the 80's when I turned old enough to see them (either this or Poltergeist). A pretty scary experience back then... :)
