Horror John Krasinski and Emily Blunt find A Quiet Place

My biggest complaint was I didn't understand how the villain in this movie was such a threat to the world. Maybe in like the 1800s it could have taken over.

The movie states they have hardened skin and are invulnerable to bullets, etc. The only way [BLACKOUT]Blunts character was able to kill one at the end was because the excess noise from the daughters hearing aid made it expose its vulnerable parts[/BLACKOUT].

One thing that bugged me was that the aliens were like completely invisible until someone makes a noise. And then it’s like BOOM there they are and you’re dead. I get why they did it that way, since it’s a horror film and what you don’t see is what’s scariest. By these creatures have no reason to hide. They’re nearly invulnerable and they’ve already conquered most of the world apparently. So you’d think they’d just be walking around openly.

I am guessing by their nature they dwell under ground. Having no eyes and only hunting by sound indicates they don't often venture into the light unless a noise draws them there.

Under the ground, huh?

Well, in that case, I liked this movie a lot better the first time I saw it, when it was called...

LOL, I wasn't being serious. But parts of this movie did make me think of Tremors.

Sequel confirmed at Cinema Con. But no more details than that.

‘A Quiet Place’ Sequel in the Works at Paramount

Paramount Pictures is already working on a sequel to “A Quiet Place,” the studio’s chairman-CEO Jim Gianopulos said at CinemaCon on Wednesday.

“We’re thrilled to say that we’re already working on the sequel to ‘A Quiet Place,'” the executive told the room of exhibitors.

Gianopulos did not provide any further details, including if director and star John Krasinski will be returning.

“A Quiet Place” scored the second-biggest domestic debut of 2018 so far when it launched earlier this month with $50 million. The horror-thriller generated some serious buzz after it premiered at South by Southwest, and boasts a sterling 95% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Having yet to see this- will have to wait for a home release- if this becomes a trilogy or series, the last film should just be called 'Shh!'

Couldn't resist, could they? The way Krasinski talks it's like he wanted this to be a one shot, as it should.

I think this serves better as a one-shot, but I expected a cash in sequel, LOL!

I didn’t really think A Quiet Place warranted all the hoopla. People were comparing it to Alien and that’s way overstating it, to me. It reminded me more of Signs than anything else. There were some pretty pulse pounding parts mostly later on, like the bathtub and to me even more so the flooded room and the silo. Also IMO it overly relied on jump scares with that sharp musical accompaniment which I find annoying.

Also the creatures didn’t look that great.

Saw it today-- a couple of slow moments but I really dug it overall. The tension that permeates the second half in some fairly inventive sequences really hits home.

I assume a sequel would be about a completely different group of people in this situation. It could work well as an anthology series like Cloverfield.

Krasinski Definitely Back For “Quiet Place 2”

It saved Paramount’s bacon this year, and thankfully the studio knows not to rush things when it comes to maximising the success of John Krasinski’s family drama horror thriller “A Quiet Place”.
The film, which Krasinski both directed and co-starred in with his wife Emily Blunt, followed a family living a near silent life in a world where sound-sensitive creatures attack anything that makes loud noises, has grossed over $328 million worldwide along with some of the year’s best reviews.
Almost immediately after release, talk of a follow-up began but Krasinski is busy with other directorial projects in the works and filming commitments on Amazon’s “Jack Ryan” series which is about to begin production of its second season (the first debuts in August). Thankfully producer Andrew Form, speaking with Collider, says Paramount has every intention of not proceeding until Krasinski is ready:
“Oh [Krasinski is] definitely involved. We’re lucky on this one. I’ve had movies where the studio says to you, ‘Here’s your date. Let’s go!’ and on this one we’re not rushing anything, which is amazing. So we’re gonna take our time, we’re gonna figure out where to go, but there is no rush on it and we’re just starting to talk about it. We’re figuring out what everyone’s involvement’s gonna be and what the actual next movie’s gonna be.
The first one is so special to us that we really want to take our time with this and not rush anything. It’s such a special movie to us, the experience and everything. It’s easy to rush these and we’ve made movies in the past where we’ve rushed them through and we’ve felt it, and we just don’t wanna do it on this one. We really don’t. We really just wanna take our time and as long as it takes, it takes. It has to be the right story, just like the first one. It just has to be.”
The comments come as “A Quiet Place” is now available on Digital HD ahead of a Blu-ray and rental VOD release on July 10th

If they do like a "prequel" of sorts, the very beginning, that COULD work BUT: The audience already knows the weakness, already knows what'll happen.

If they just do the same thing with a different family it'll be boring as hell.

Or then do an action sequel with Emily Blunt being a warrior queen badass leading humanitys fight. I already have a name for it: A QUIET PLACE 2: HERE COMES THE NOISE

Yeah I think if you make another you have to continue the story of this family.

For me the ending of the first movie was setting up a sequel, it was going to be the start of humanity’s fight back.

I wouldn’t mind the sequel following other people at first, but at some point badass Mother Blunt and kids need to show up.

The side of their truck can read Motherblunter.

I find myself in agreement with Schlosser85 to be honest; the film was okay, but certainly not the masterpiece it was claimed to be. As for the sequel, short of word getting around, and humanity taking back the planet from these creatures, there's nowhere else they can go with it, right? That'll only serve to make this another monster (and not horror/suspense) movie. I don't see how they can repeat the theme of the first if it's a monster hunt.

Also, pretty sure [that character] died, and yet [they] are said to be returning? Unless it's as a crew member, rather than cast?

Just finally watched this over the weekend, thought it was excellent  Some great tense moments and love the creature design and concept. Some touching moments too. Krasinski did an awesome job with this.

[BLACKOUT]Krasinski directed the movie and played the dad. They are talking about him returning behind the camera, not in front of it and nothing to do with his character[/BLACKOUT].
