Probably even more than that. Good God, the man probably craps out iconic score after breakfast each morning.

Star Wars hands down. Hell, what makes it amazing is how many people who have never seen Star Wars know it.

Most iconic: Star Wars

Personal Favorite: Jurassic Park

Jaws. Every ****ing person on Earth knows what that means.

This is like asking what's The Beatles greatest song.

Virtually impossible to select one outright I would have thought, for me personally, in what his scores mean to me, his Superman main theme for me defines him and his legacy. In the general conscious, I would anticipate Star Wars or Jaws themes. Star Wars for it's impact on a generation of 40+ people like myself and Jaws in everyone, film fan or not, knows Jaws and it's catchment, in the same way the Pyscho screech of knife / shower indicates public domain for 'a psycho'.

Star Wars though I think Jaws may give it a run for its money.

For me, I find Superman my alltime favorite of his. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, 1941, are among my favorites though.

That's not true.

They may have NOT seen it, but they know of it, I'm sure b/c it's too ingrained into our pop culture. It's like kids may not listen to the Beatles, or know each members name, but they know who they are (collectively) and know some of their songs (even if they don't know if it was done by them. i.e. commercials.)

Ask them.

Same with Superman. Anyone born after 2000 has no idea what that theme is from.

Oh you mean the theme?

I guess that's somewhat true. Like my Beatles analogy: I'm sure kids have heard their songs before, but through commercials, not knowing it's them.

I would argue that kids born pass 2000 may not know who John Williams is, and how important he is to the filming world. He's a living legend.

Yeah.

They'll see it referenced in movies, or TV shows but it will go over their heads.

Indiana Jones I think actually has more longevity, since his last movie wasn't that long ago. But Jaws and ET are ancient history.

They probably think the Jaws theme is like stock music from Garage Band or some other app.

I think that's kind of unfair though. Those are classic movies!

Jaws I feel holds up well, in large part due to the shark being mostly unseen. E.T. on the other hand... hasn't aged as gracefully.

People will attack me for this, but I think ET is boring. But I'll need to see it again.

Most iconic? Gotta be Jaws. It's his most unusual piece, so it stands out, and when it's standing out, it's easily identified and remembered. Plus, the music is suffient enough in itself to trigger horror. Even if you've never heard of Jaws, you'd know that music meant bad news.
