I love this movie to death. I really do. But I'm a rational person, and will admit to its many glaring faults...including plot holes.

The most obvious plot point of the film that was left entirely unresolved at the film's end has gone wholly unnoticed (at least as far as I've read) on these boards.

In the film, Johnny unwillingly becomes the Ghost Rider and causes massive amounts of damage during his first transformation. The police find some evidence among the wreckage placing the guilt (rightfully) on Johnny Blaze. The police sweep Johnny off the prison, where the Rider takes over, causes chaos in the cell, and escapes under the pursuit of the entire police force...

Here in lies the problem...

Isn't Johnny now a fugitive, to be pursued by the police for his alleged crimes (or at the very least escaping police custody)?!

Johnny is guilty of those crimes...not that the cops had even a shred of evidence to show for it at first...there were hundreds of trashed vehicles around...and many charred license plates.

But yes...Johnny is a fugitive...and so in sequels...when we get to see MORE great acting from this cast...we can expect this dilligent and responisble scripting team to follow that storyline.

Lord, please no sequel.

Yes, which is probably why he just left at the end, that is what I enjoyed about the first series he just wandered the country.

Well, in the novel there was something about Matt Murdock (thanks for taking that nice bit out:(:(:down) proving Johnny innocent. Something about the texture of the bike tires not matching the street and a little more than that.

Did the novel also give the reason why the cops had any reason to supect that Johnny was the culprit???

They found his plate on the road, remember?

yes...a road of destruction that last for many, many miles...stretching into another state even...in that destruction were hundreds of cars, vans, buses and motorcycles (preseumably all with license plates). How is it that only the exact correct license plate aroused suspicion...enough suspicion to arrest a suspect???

It had his number on it, it probably resembled a motorcycle's plate, it was on the trail, people saw someone riding a motorcycle which proved it was a motorcycle's plate.

Well the other license plates were still attatched to their vehicles, this one was found along the broken pavement trail. It was only ONE trail that did it , which made sure it was a motorcycle, and the cop said himself, how come the whole town goes to ***** when Johnny Blaze arrived?

He was a suspect and then he fled the scene and dissappeared so if I was a cop...I'd probably think he knows something about it.

Still, that isn't grounds to arrest him. They saw all the other debris. They would have questioned him, but not sent like a million police cars to his place.

Oh, once he was arrested and then escaped from jail as ghost rider, thats evidence...finding his license plate is not evidence...if anything he could be thought of as a victim in the case.

Okay, you two just hated the movie and have to be negative about it, don't you?

Look, they didn't send ANYWHERE NEAR a million cars after him, it was three. And what if he was the bad guy? I'd think the cops don't want to risk him running away, so they had three cars just in case. Duh.

My opinion about the movie has nothing to do with the fact that I am pointing out an obvious flaw. And I know they didn't send out a million cars. That was a heavy exaggeration :p. My point is, unless they saw him do the crime, they would not arrive to his house, guns ready to fire, just to question him. They were basing their whole arrest on one charred plate, that could have just been debris, and that fact that this happened when he moved back into town. Then they had this "we know you did. just confess" attitude.

He did cause that traffic jam in the freeway earlier also, which he wasn't arrested for...but he was one for cinematics, using flames and explosions for his shows. I dont know, JohnnY Blaze shows up, the same night, motorcycle tears through the towns, flames and explosions in the towns coincide. Also when he tore through that street, he wasnt Ghost Rider then, he was still JohnnY Blaze zipping through on a motorcycle, maybe some camera in of those shops he passed ID'd him also?

On another note, if you noticed Captain Dolan's actor played pretty much the same role in the Matrix and he even had his trademark, "That's BULL*****" line. :woot:

The best part was that a flaming skeleton was able to set off sprinklers, tear a whole through a jail cell and make his way completely out of the jail and into the street with only one cop noticing that anything was awry.

I liked the jail scene actually. The only problem I had with it though, was his head blew up. Their was an explosion. Only the people around him died. No. Just no. An explosion like that would kill everyone in the room, including the innocent kid. The prison was still standing as well. Also, the reasoning behind the inmates beating up Johnny was dumb.

Allow me to re-write that prison scene.

"Hey, we're a bunch of accused men, who are innocent until proven guilty...meanwhile you're a stranger thats famous...LETS KILL HIM!!!!"

Yeah, I know that, but it was dumb. They usually do that when they have better evidence than a dumb license plate.

The potential evidence trail lasted over 2 states for many miles...yet after combing half a block their case was solved.

Not to say anything of the lack of guards.

What guards? They wes only one police officer in the entire building.

Good luck in trying to arrest him...lol.
