ITEM! Barry Allen will return, leading the Black Lantern

According to Litg. I thought the Black Lantern symbol was the Black Hand's symbol.

Oh hey, it's that ****ing ******* *****ebag Rich Johnston again. Isn't he the guy who made his name by just making **** up and hoping something stuck, to get fanboys talking and arguing about baseless crap? Oh yeah...that guy.

Hey, did you guys hear that Batman is going to die?

It's not like he claims he's 100% accurate, he's a rumor columnist. And I think he's got a decent track record as far as what he actually claims to be too. He called countdown if I remember correctly (the name and numbering system too, not just another weekly) and the concept of Trinity long before it was announced. He also had New Avengers 31 pegged as the important issue (Elektra is a Skrull, which he also specifically broke early), as well as putting the Red Lantern=Rage thing on the table months before it saw a hint of print.

I'm not saying he's always right, but he's certainly got good sources and is entertaining.

For all the Countdowns, the Batman-lasting-more-than-2-seconds-against-Darkeid s and the Bart Allen fiascos, I don't believe for a second that anyone at DC is actually stupid enough to let that get through.

Believe is a strong word. Desperately hope, is more like it. :csad:

Wow, I was having a discussion with a poster in these forums on MSN about the whole Black Lanterns thing. We were talking about how would we possibly see old heroes that are day, re-appear through Black Lanterns.

If this is true, I'm surprised the reactions thus far as not as chaotic as I expected; especially a character like Barry Allen.

well a rumor about a story over a year from now isnt exactly canon.

That is approximately correct MAYBE half the time...

You are right to be skeptical, it is often difficult to assess these rumors, but for a rumor column if he is correct around 50% of the time then that is a very high rate (again, for a rumor column). I wish that I could find the article, it was referenced on joystiq.com ages ago, but someone compiled and compared different rumor columns and their accuracy, EGMs quarterman was the most accurate, by far, with 50% accuracy. Imagine if he is fifty percent accurate-- that means that Batman may die or Barry Allen will come back. Think about what that means if he is about 50% accurate. And while Batman/Bruce Wayne may not "die" he may have stumbled upon something with this upcoming Batman RIP arc.

Does any of what I said insulate him from criticism? Not really, but I hope it does put things into perspective.

Well it's not exactly like he's calling something crazy, I mean, who didn't think of Barry and Connor when it said the dead will rise?

Plus, Barry isn't exactly connected to GL mythos. I mean, the dead residents of coast city would make more sense.

thing is, they have sectors though, so there can only be 1 or 2 from 2814, and isnt black hand from earth?

and abin or amon sur would likley be the anothers

given his more than reasonable success rate don't you think you should, y'know lighten up?

You'll wear out your * button at that rate....

It's not reasonable enough. He does what he does to stir ****. I don't like ****-stirrers.

Stupid rumor. The blackhand will lead the dead, how do i know this, the symbol on the rings is his symbol. everyone knows this.

Not only that, but Johns dropped the hint about Black being his color, and we haven't seen Black Hand since the first few issues of Green Lantern. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Black Hand get his status elevated like Sinestro did.

If Barry is part of the Black Lanterns, then the Flash in the lighting rod in the JSA/JLA "Lighting Saga" must be Bart Allen. I rather have Barry come back than Bart to be honest. It would really freak out Wally and make him question his place, like it did in the Flash trade Return of Barry Allen.

The only way I can see Barry returning is if the Legion of Superheroes release him from the Lighting Rod in Final Crisis and he dies heroically. That would be the only way he could be revived and made second in command of the Black Lanterns. This would play major mind games on Wally like Johns did with Match for Wondergirl in Teen Titans.

there was a flash in the lightning rod?

Yeah, there was something in it, but I don't know that it was a Flash.

The rods just pulled Flash from this dimension that only the Flashes could go to. Neither he nor his family were IN the rods or anything.

Bart didn't die in the speed farce so he shouldn't be the one in the rod.
