The Dark Knight Joker Hype!

"It's a much more anarchic, punk rock, almost junkie version of it," says Bale, f Heath Ledger's disturbing take on Batman's deadliest foe. "He's the kind of psycho kid that just will do anything and has absolutely no conscience and morals - I think they've done a real nice job with his look. It's certainly a whole lot more dangerous; there's a bit of Clockwork Orange there, a bit of Sid Vicious, a whole lot of great, anarchic personalities blended within The Joker."

Oh. Wow. Awesome.

Here is the excerpts of the Wizard World report on their footage from "The Dark Knight" that are relevant to The Joker:

- The action built up as the Joker was seen in full for the first time with a mess of white face, smeared red lipstick and sweaty, straggly green hair. Apparently, the clown prince of crime gets arrested at one point in the film, as the montage presented Jim Gordon (complete in SWAT gear) at the Joker’s booking, saying, "no prints, no ID, custom clothes, no tags.” The clown smiles with what appears to be blood over his face from the inside of an interrogation room.

- The Joker and Batman battling in close quarters (possibly a hospital room). Batman throws Joker over a table and crashing into the ground while the clown smiles at him. It should be noted that the Joker was done up in his signature purple suit.

- There is also a shot of a somewhat grim-faced Joker walking across a city street mercilessly firing a machine gun as well as a television close-up of the Joker laughing hysterically.

Awesome, huh? And we got more details from people who were there. This Joker is gonna kick major ass!

Can't wait to see him with a machine gun! Hopefully he's completely lost it at this point. Plus the Joker on a television laughing leads to alot of cool possibilities. July can't come soon enough.

Further reports suggest it's not a television. But rather, a handheld camea, that The Joker appears to be pointing at himself. And everyone agrees that this moment was a highlight of the preview, with The Joker tugging at his hair and laughing wildly.

That sounds even better! Can't wait to actually see this footage. The wait is getting excruciating.

If I wasn't an avid Bat-fan a shot like that would get my ass in a theatre seat.

The sound of that reminds me of that part with Joker in a drive-by shooting in Dark Victory. Where he yells all those classic movie quotes.

I know the exact scene you're talking about. :cwink:

Judging from fan reports of this moment, The Joker is limping through the street as he fires the machine gun, as if he's just been injured. He's soaking wet, his make-up is running down his face, and he's laughing like a maniac as he guns down all in his path. Just thinking about this moment gives me goosebumps, it's gonna be such an awesome sequence.

Man, my anticpation is excruciating and then you post something like this. Damn you! :cmad:

Hey guys.

Before we begin, let me make it known that I am one of the fans who wishes/hopes Joker is/will be bleached white.

After thinking about it, I don't really know why I expected him to be. I mean, the stuff we've seen of Crane has him in what looks like a business suit, rather than the classic appearance of a torn straitjacket. Sam Raimi liked to draw parallels in his movies between Spider-Man and his villains. I don't know if Mr. Nolan's trying to do this, but with his take on the Joker, but it appears as if he is:

It would seem that just as Batman is an average joe that puts on a costume and is a symbol for the law enforcement of Gotham (even if they don't know it yet), Joker is the complete opposite-a madman that puts on a costume and appears to be a symbol for the underworld of Gotham. In BB3, I think Two-Face will be somewhere in between the two extremes.

I hope that in fielding my opinion, no one out there marks me as either anti-realist/exteme realist/nolanite, etc.

Just my .02

I think that's a damn good idea you got there. I wouldn't be surprised if that's how he ends up doing the trilogy.

with all the Joker hype I even wonder if Eckhart can pull off being Two-Face?

As much as I'm dying to see Heath's portrayal of the Joker, I am perhaps more pumped to see a great version of Two-Face on the silver screen. I think Eckhart will surprise us. Almost like a little bonus after alot of Joker-action...

I think Eckhart is a great actor and I think he is going tos how what he got

I'm really pumped for Two-Face...erm...too! It's another reason why "The Dark Knight" could be my most anticipated movie EVER! The Joker is my favourite supervillain. And Two-Face is probably my second favourite! So that's my two favourite bad guys in one film!

Though I do hope that The Joker gets the spotlight in this movie. I'd like Eckhart to be Harvey Dent this movie, and only be Two-Face long enough to serve as a prelude to the third film. I think the character of Dent is worthy of a whole arc before becoming Two-Face, rather than the character only being there for the obligatory "origin scene".

Couldn't agree more.

I think Eckhart is a very overated actor all i have seen him in doesnt convince me in the slightest that he can portray a great twoface he looks the part but acting wise? no for sheer intesity, physical looks and confidence which harvey has they should have used that guy who plays leonidas in 300.

Gerard Butler? Eh, no thanks. My personal top choice was Liev Schreiber, but I think Aaron Eckhart is a perfectly good casting choice.

Since he has spent most of his career as a supporting actor, it's hard to point out that many star turns, though he did well in smallish roles in the likes of "Erin Brokovich" and "The Black Dahlia". But his leading performance in "Thank You For Smoking" showed plenty of the confidence and charisma I'd associate with Harvey Dent. And his critically acclaimed early performance in "In The Company of Men" shows he certainly has the acting chops to pull off intensity.
