The Dark Knight Joker Scars: Accidental; self inflicted?

well ive been looking at all the photos we have of joker. idk if anyone else has seen, so forgive me if i sound stupid. but it looks like the left side was some kind of accidnet, perhaps the gunshot story(the zipline theory is rubbish) and the right looks much more clean, like he did it himself. so im thinking he gets scarred and hten wehn he assumes his joker persona he evens it out :yay:

I'm hoping you're right. I also think the whole zipline thing is horrible, too. I'm sick of all of the people that heard that crap once and decided that's probably how it happens-WTF?! :whatever:

I don't think it is a bad theory, not exactly very exciting but not bad either. I would hate to see Joker cutting his face purposly severing the nerves in his face and with what looks like one clean stroke. Self mutilation takes multiple tries I believe oh well. The best route is no explanation

If one were to take something like a mini saw blade, literally saw through the flesh...it would look like that.

Also, if he were to keep messing with it, not allowing it to heal right, it heal out of line, looking like that. Or..if he just hacked at his face, not cut it...

Eeesh! :wow: Just reading this thread is making me sick. There's NO way they could show that in a Bat-film; the most they could do is imply it.

you could show a shadow and a profile of the cut and the blood against the wall then next scene him cover his mouth and getting away. You also do something like him in front of a mirror and about to cut himself then pan to his grumpy mask hanging on the wall. Then his goon comes in says what are you doing then you see the bandages on his face and blood soaked into the cloth and it is making a smile and he says "touch ups" There are so many ways to go

Agreed. It's almost certainly more tasteful to go the more tactful route along the lines of what you suggested.

it is pg13 i don't think we need to frighten the bejeezus out of kids. Though it would be awesome this is just Batman not SHOCK THE KIDS 3000! WATCH JOKER EAT BABIES AND SKULL F*($ PIRATES!!

kids love pirates nowadays. seeing a pirate violated would be disturbing to them. to me too for that matter. but i don't mind scaring the kids.

I think if Batman was a really mature themed comic and was known for that, then yes. But Batman really isn't; I mean he is a cartoon and action figure. (puppy face)

yeah, but he has the potential to be really mature. some people just don't use him as such. of all the mainstream heroes, he is the most mature. i mean, the fact that all of his villains are based off of psychological diseases and what not, that just gives it more depth and maturity right there. joker shooting and paralyzing barbra gordon, taking naked pictures of her. giving robin. that's mature stuff.

Well doing that would be like a huge shock and audience wouldn't care for it. Even in nature you have to ease the transition slowly. It would be like ummm an imaginary new Superman movie and you see Superboy Prime and he crushes a guys skull and superF*(@# a bystandard. Now general audiences would be left like Woah woah woah woah woah. You would have to ease something like that very slowly

i think everyone knows joker is a killer. so if you talk about him doing something really sick in one scene, then four scenes later he does something really sick. i think it's not as shocking, because there's a precedent.

well I doubt most modern day really know the depth of Batman, or even his Rogue Gallery. They have the movies as canon and thats about all, maybe they watched the show once and went oh ok. People also usually rarely walk out of movies and most parents hwo bring their kids for a batman movie are going to be having a long ride home explaining how everything isn't real on tv. and Heath ledger isn't going to come home and rip off their face. Then a whole phase of nightmares. Then we would have mothers trying to boycott the movie and demand it gets edited to take the graphic stuff out. Then I would have to shell out an extra 8 bucks for the directors cut.

i doubt it. my parents were afraid to take me to see b89 cuz i was really really young and they thought it would be too dark. but they took me. and now, begins is even darker and parents still took their kids. that fear toxin batman could give kids nightmares for sure. some people say the joker from 89 gave them nightmares. so i mean, they'll get em either way.

i saw parents with their kids when i saw departed. like 6 year old kids. same thing with 300. saw a guy with like a 7 year old boy. i think if you see the trailers and it's clear that the joker is sick. maybe he's covered in blood or he walks out of an exploding hospital in a nurse's uniform, they'll get the idea. PLUS they could say "rated pg-13 for graphic violence and frightening images." i've seen that on tv spots in the past couple years.

perhaps, but honestly I think that gruesome Arkham asylum Joker isn't ready to go full throttle on audiences yet.

yeah but, if not now, when? because it might take another 20 years before we see another joker movie. are you prepared to wait 20 years?

hmmm I should be 40 then, hey maybe I could play an older Joker! so ya heh

Ya know...when I was trying to get my scars for Halloween down, I consulted the great book Grande Illusions by Tom Savini. (if you don't the name, you should be ashamed)

I got a couple ideas on making a short Joker movie...although I have no way of actually filming such a thing. Doing something right is no problem..it's a question of weather or not they will actually do it.

I don't want the scars to be self inflicted in anyway. If Batman is going to do it, unintentionally of'course, then I think the batarang idea would work. But I have a feeling we may not even see Joker get the scarring. The film rolls and when we first see him, his face is white, and his lips bloody red and scarred.

judging from the spy pics id say the scarring happens in the film at some point as there have been pics of Heath onset in costume without the scars, but who knows?

I'm still hoping for Junkie joker. he chews his cheeks open from the inside out
