those little lines that agents slide down from the roof to the next building. I remember swinging on them at camps as kid ^_^ J. Quest

Is there a legit reason as to how Joker gets the scars in the film yet, or is it still up for speculation?

well he has the scars in the prologue, and that's supposedly the first 6/7 minutes of the movie, so as of now, it's speculation.

Hmm, well thats pretty cool then. If he already has the scars, then its left to the audiences imagination as to what happened. Unless of course he mentions it during the actual movie.

Didn't Nolan say that Joker is an absolute and they wont really get into HOW he became the Joker...that's just what he is/looks like...

but dont forget Nolan is famous for flashbacks so you never know what you will get

You're saying that he accidentally cut himself with that????

Who told u that??? an idiot for sure.

Listen.

No one and i mean NO ONE knows how he get those scars, the Joker is THE JOKER even before the movie starts.

Good point. Every film Nolan has made has both a twist and told in non-linear fashion through flashbacks or out of sequence scenes.

what i think they meant by zipline is the line that batman fires to hook onto and climb up walls. Basically the idea is that the joker would get the sharp hook in the face (speculated). i agree with you and i don't think it's gonna happen, though i do think the source of his facial scarring will be hinted at in passing, kinda like the "i believe what doesn't kill you only makes you stranger" line

Well if he starts off with the scars, and they make no mention as to why or how he got them, thats all fine by me. Gives room for more interesting theories on here

Maybe it's like in the 1928 silent film, in which Gwynplane, the paradigm for Bob Kane's The Joker (as seen in Batman number one), is surgically left his mouth in permanent smile. I'm willing to bet that Nolan took inspiration from this far back and turned the Joker into something much more sinister.

I thought Nolan said in the LA Times that there wasn't an origin story?
