The Dark Knight Joker Scars: Accidental; self inflicted?

Well i only say that b/c a scar like that would probably not look so blended in with the skin, and also i just wouldn't see nolan showing joker int he movie with NO makeup on at all. I know he is making him a guy who paints his face but i think he also understands the mystery of it by keeping it on even in different layers

it wouldn't make sense to put flesh makeup over white makeup which is over his real skin, it's redundant imo

even if you examine his skin in the picture, it's very sallow and pale, showing how his sin has reacted to being covered by makeup for such an extended period of time.

And i believe nolan would show the joker with no makeup, because

1) it's a homage to his first appearance in the comics when he dressed as a police officer (it was not stated at the time that his skin was permawhite)

2) Nolan seems to be focusing more on the joker's internal workings than his external appearance.

my two cents on the scarring...

To me it looks like a small caliber bullet wound. As if he was shot through his right cheek and the bullet blew out the left cheek. Leaving a small entrance wound on his right and a nearly blown out exit wound on the left. Here comes my stretch of the imagination...

I can see this Joker looking in the mirror at the wound, seeing that it resembles a painted on clown's smile a bit on the left cheek... and finishing the illusion by carving or slicing the right side of his face up to the entry wound, then slicing a bit out of the corner of the left side of his mouth to complete the look.

That's the impression I got when I saw the first official Joker pic anyway. And to me it fits because it's a very slight homage to the Burton Joker origin, but adds a pretty big dash of the anarchy that is the new Joker.

I mentioned this in another thread but to me it looks as though he is also missing his entire lower lip(as in the new cop pic)

I thought for a sec that maybe this Joker is just a victim of deformity and he evened out the other side when he snapped but alas, i do believe that "whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is a HUGE hint towards his origins:

He took the time to say it to someone who he knows is in the mob.

(and im not entirley sure if Fitcher's bank manager didnt recognize Joker from somewhere and vice versa. Joker does this huge head tilt after he shoots the mob manager almost as if, "hey you're here?".)

With batman's presence in gotham, I Do believe that this Joker didnt become THE JOKER until he saw what batman was doing.

His face is already pale, his eyes already deep in panda sockets and his mouth scarred. He just uses the make-up to enhance what he sees already in the mirror.

That's pretty much what he is in fact going to have is a perma-face. From a number of interviews we've already been told that throughout the movie he just cakes on more makeup and never takes it off.

So basically...he does in fact put the flesh toned makeup over the white and then most likely will have to put more white over the flesh toned makeup to go back to his "Joker" appearance.

I don't buy the "That's too strange for him to put the flesh colored makeup over the white" argument/complaint. Joker is insanse...do you really think he is going to take the time(in this version at least) to wash off all the white and red and black for one kill dressed as the cop???

Since we know for a fact from the interviews he just keeps putting more and more on, I think we can rule out that the flesh toned makeup is his actual skin. It's more makeup.

Considering the way Nolan cuts his films, I do believe this is a real possibility as to how the Joker thing goes down with the mob. I cant wait to be suprised in some way shape or form come July.

and I posted that theory when the very first pics came out. I thought it looked like he got shot through the cheeks. Mainly because I saw a pic of one of his thugs pointing a gun in his direction.

Needless to say I was called an idiot and mocked. Funny to see people picking up that same theory months and months later.........

Im almost sure we don't get an "origin" but instead are told or have it implied that certain instances and events happened to create this monster.

The last of which is batman showing up in gotham, giving all the crazies permission to be just like himUT SIDE THE LAW.

(What doesn't kill you makes you...stranger) to me suggests an external force, he had a life changing experience. That's what happens to most of the rogue gallery. We don't need to know what that experience was but it's there. Two face has a disagreement with a vial of acid, Joker possibly get a Chelsa grin or dropped in a vat of chemicals, Bruce watches both his parents get capped at a young age.

well it would be hard to explain being such a cold blooded psycho without a life changing experience.

i know in real life theres people that just have mental problems, but to go as far as joker, you need an extremely bad day to put you into that state.
