I recently re-watched B89, and was thinking about Jack's body count.. I think he actually killed more people in 89 than Ledger did in TDK, I want your opinions, who killed more? Jack or Heath?

Jack because of all the people he poisoned with Smilex.

Though I have to say the people who were dumb enough to trust him and show up to his parade at midnight, after he'd been killing people with poisoned products for weeks already, really brought that on themselves.

so.. what is his body count? I mean.. it's gotta be in atleast the early hundreds.. if you count the museum.

No way was it even close to the hundreds. The two models died, the newscaster lady died, then the next news report said there was six new deaths. Then Batman cracked the poison code.

Joker killed at least a dozen people at the parade before Batman got rid of his balloons. He killed Bob, Eckhart, Grissom, the fat mobster, and the other mobster with the joy buzzer. Did he kill the people in the museum, or was it just knockout gas?

So his body count was somewhere in the 20's-30's.

I'm pretty sure the museum people all died or atleast it seemed that way.

Interesting that TDK Joker caused more destruction on a psychological and property level but Jack's got the bigger kill count. They were both entertaining Jokers.

I always assumed it was knockout gas because of the comical way everyone was knocked out lol. Falling on their cakes, and dinner plates etc.

I'll try and list TDK Joker's body count....

- His four henchmen in the bank robbery
- The mobster with the pencil trick
- Gambol
- Two of Gambol's henchmen because apparently "There was only one spot open" in Joker's gang lol
- The fake Batman
- Judge Sirillo
- Commissioner Loeb
- Richard Dent and Patrick Harvey
- The traffic Cop outside his circus truck
- An unknown number of Cops in the helicopter he knocked out of the air
- The thug with the bomb in his stomach, and the two paramedics and Cop who were checking him out when the bomb went off
- Rachel
- Lau on top of the burning money
- The Chechen mobster
- The two Cops who were guarding Harvey in the hospital

I ahve the feeling Heath's fans will say Heath and Jack's, Jack, ignoring in the process the fact that we cannot count how many each of them killed.

I think they died. Becky the news lady fell over in a comical way, but we know she died from Smiley.

Yeah, but she had the classic Joker grin on her, we were not shown this mark of death on any of the museum people, and I think if they had shared similar fates, Burton *would* have shown us at least one or two with this mark of the Joker.
I always took it that it was knockout gas in the museum.

If Burton didn't show us the faces of those people is simply because he already showed what the gas can do. If the point is already made you shouldn't make it again just for the sake of it (something that Goyer should learn). Unless there's something new to it.

But there is also the fact of telling the audience what is going on in the scene, whether they are knocked out or dead. They also do not fall about laughing to their deaths like the newscaster does, and if the Joker was wanting to kill these people, surely it would be with the same chemical compound, so that it left his mark upon them, so he got the credit of the deaths to further his reputation, much as the pirate tv broadcasts did.
We see that waiter go down in a drowsy, knocked out way, I think it's meant to be knockout gas.

As for the OP's question, I immmediately thought Jack's had the highest body count, due to the fact we can't tell how many people died during the parade, but it was a large gathering of people, and we do see that some are affected, while others presumably are too.

edit: but if you sat down and counted all the deaths you actually see onscreen, much like the rules Travesty used for 'Batman appearances', it very well could be Ledger's.

Jack's Joker had to have killed more. With the parade and poison coming to mind, Ledger's Joker didn't do anything on that big of a scale.

We can’t say even if we sat through the movie. Those movies don’t show every dead person Joker killed.

Yeah, because she died laughing hysterically. Whatever gas Joker used in the museum it wasn't smilex. No laughing, and no smiles. That's why I don't think they died. If he was gonna' kill them with gas, he'd have used his smilex, IMO.

Yeah, I know, I just meant , I wonder how many we can count onscreen for each of them, just for fun, like Travesty counting Batman appearances, since we can't ever actually know how many were killed at the parade for instance.

and sorry Joker, lol, I kind of barged into your conversation on the museum back there.
