Stevenson has an Irish background and looks more Irish than Italian. Bernthal definitely has more of the dark looks and continental features that an Italian might have.

Well how 'bout that. I've said before that I don't think Season 2 needs The Punisher, but that casting is perfect and I'm sure it will be awesome.

The thematic parallels between the two characters pointed out by some users here make total sense. As long as Punisher doesn't pull too much focus from DD, I'm on board for this.

I think the presence of the Punisher might be one way of Foggy making more peace with what Matt is doing, because he will surely see that Murdock is nowhere near as extreme or as bad as Castle.

If Punisher gets his own Netflix series eventually, then maybe we could get a new board and all those threads which are hopefully archived can be resurrected.

I would hope to get a comparison thread once we've seen Bernthal's performance between him, Lundgren, Jane and Stevenson.

Would be cool too if Punisher were to meet Banner one day and they could each remark that they both seem to be a man of many faces.

Oh I was just guessing. I don't know when they start filming either. I just assumed it would be the same as last year, with Season 2 premiering around the same time Season 1 did this year.

Yet another example of Civil War feeling like it's coming too soon before certain characters can be introduced (Spider-Man, Punisher etc).

I also posted this in the Spider-Man thread. I cannot see the Jackal telling Frank Castle to take out this little 5 ft Spider-Man if he is played by Matthew Lintz. Castle has had kids of his own before. First off, is he going to be that dumb that he thinks that a 5ft or, even if Lintz grows a little, a 5'2" Spider-Man is actually a fully grown man? And second, surely a kid is going to remind Castle of his own child that he lost along with his wife.

So Norman Reedus has voiced the Punisher and now Jon is going to play him in real life.

Hopefully a movie or his own series gets spun off this. And I hope he gets more than one episode.

Agreed. At this point I'm kinda imagining the Netflix portion of the MCU as kinda like the MAX imprint to the movies' vanilla Marvel Comics imprint.
