Jonny Quest Coming to the Big Screen

Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter, who have the video game-based Hitman opening on October 12 from Fox, will produce a live-action adaptation of popular 1960s animated TV series Jonny Quest at Warner Bros. Pictures, with Dan Mazeau writing the script.

The Hanna-Barbera series revolved around a young boy who travels the world with his scientist father, adopted brother from India, Bandit the bulldog, and a government agent assigned to protect them as they go on their adventures investigating scientific mysteries.

The show, which is owned by Warner Bros. Animation, aired during primetime on ABC in 1964, lasting only one season. It was updated in the late '80s and '90s as "The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest" on the Cartoon Network. Property's also been spun off as a comic book from DC.

Askarieh, a longtime fan of the series, is hoping to turn the property into a family-friendly adventure franchise.

I guess this means I can throw away my three page Quest television proposal. :(

Quest was a cool Cartoon. There's many different directions they could take it in.

I'll respond to this the same way I responded to Speed Racer becoming a movie.

Meh.

It should be like The Goonies meets Indiana Jones.:o

I'd actually be much more interested in an animated Venture Brothers movie.

They should hire Angelina Jolie as Dr. Benton (Bentina?) Quest, adopting kids from poor and impoverished countries is right up her ally.

Jessie better be in this.

Eh. All she would be would be hot jail bat ass. :o

LOL

I cant even lie i am lookin forward to this, i used to always Johnny quest as a kid, watched all versions of it.

I agree it should be somewhat like the goonies.

I can't see it working if Jonny, Jessie, and Hadji are kids. They need to be teens for me to even consider watching it.

They won't be able to get people of Clooney's stature for a ****ing Jonny Quest movie.

I had William Hurt in mind as Jonny's pop.

And I can't help but look at Race and Benton now and see them as the bickering gay couple from Harvey Birdman.

No, cause...

Jonny Quest = Quasi-cool, quasi lame cartoon.
George Clooney = Mega huge actor whose already saw the wrath of what happens when he stars in an adaption that turns out not so good which with the reputation of recent cartoon adaptions this has a very good chance of suckage.
