Jonny Quest Live-Action Film

On August 7, 2007, it was announced that Warner Bros. is developing a live-action film based on the series and characters. [3] Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter will produce and the script will be written by Dan Mazeau.[4] [5] The scheduled release date is 2010.

What happened? I have heard nothing on this film besides this announcement. Anyone know more or have thoughts on this matter?

Zac Efron Confirmed for Jonny Quest

After months of rumors, it's finally been confirmed that "High School Music" star Zac Efron has signed on to play the title role in Warner Bros' planned live action version of the popular 60's Hanna-Barbera cartoon show Jonny Quest. L.A. Times' "Hero Complex" got the confirmation but mentions that Warner Bros. have been considering changing the name of the property to avoid the inevitably negative comparisons to Warner Bros' flop Speed Racer, another live action movie based on a popular cartoon. There's no word on who might be directing although previous rumors have pegged the team of Andy Fickman and Duane Johnson possibly reuniting for the third time after the recent Race to Witch Mountain.

I'm not really enthused by the idea of a Johnny Quest Movie, I loved the cartoon as a kid but not sure how well it will turn out considering Hollywoods track record for adaptions!

I'm especially not happy with the news of Efron playing him, I'm really not a fan and I think he's too old to play him. meh I'll see how this develops.

The only thing I've ever seen Efron in was when when hosted SNL, where I thought he did well. Obviously, he'll be playing a Quest who is a little bit older, and that doesn't bother me. I like Johnson but don't see him as Race Bannon. I guess he's got a good deal with Disney, and no one is offering him Statham's roles so he'll stay an actor in Kids movies.

I've always wanted to see a live action Johnny Quest film, so for now, I'm going to stay optimistic.

Either they're going to play this as a parody a la Bewitched and Starsky and Hutch, or they're going to pull a Scooby-Doo where this is set a few years later and Jonny is older.

I'll level with you, I saw some clips of Efron in that 17 Again movie and he has some decent comedic timing.

I don't mind Efron so much tbh. He could pull off the teenage Johnny that I think the Real Johnny Quest Adventures show was trying to go for. However as much as I like Johnson ...Race Bannon he is not. I say this jokingly but when I think of a live action Race, at least based on looks, I see Anderson Cooper. (how cool could that be lol). And since he is pretty popular now, you just know Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) is gonna end up being Hadji.

The sad part is that it should be neither. Jonny Quest was an action-adventure show and so should be the movie!
