Glorious casting choices as usual on Smallville

Have they revealed anything concerning the villian of the episode?

well in a quote above it said there will be 7 members of the JSA members appearing and the quote me and some other people posted was from Geof John's twitterpage where he said JLA vs JSA.
Sure i know johns said their was going to be a jsa vs jl aspect to the episode. But he also stated that their were to only be 3 members we actually see. That comment about 7 members was probably mis quoted and at most we will probably get a mention of others, to maybe a picture or something of members we dont get to see. Plus with smallville's jl we all know alot of the members of the group are in various other tv shows currently like BC for SGU and cyborg for flash forward. As for the others they might have other projects or films being worked on. Though i do expect one other jl member might getting in the episode.

Villain there was a rumor from smallville wikia(not that trusty of spots) said the villain of the episode is "Key" to superman.... something along the lines. Now there was a jsa villain named key. But i am sure we will get something either like persaduer was in legion. Or maybe the jsa threat will be the main factor in the episode.

If you look at her IMDB page, it looks like she is cast on the CW's winter replacement show "Life Unexpected". I wonder how much that factored into her being cast.

well they probably first wanted to stick to cw signed actors, along with other(ie hawkman/fate casting).

Y'know. I thought the Legion was done well. But the whole leather jacket with a touch of their symbol is getting a bit overdone. I know TV semi-grounded in reality doesnt want to go with tights and capes. But you would have thought that given Superman (when fully Superman and not the Blur) is eventually going to adopt the full spandex image (its not really a look you can mess with even for TV, which is undoubtedly why we'll never see Clark fully Supe-up), that future generations of superbeings would go along that route too as he would mark the beginning of the age of heroes and all he represents is what leads future generations along the path (yadda yadda).

So I guess what I'm saying is, though we will undoubtedly see Fate in a trenchcoat and leathery pants, I'd kinda like it if the occasional hero guest appearance was a bit more traditional so at least suggest that eventually Spandex will be okay. Cant imagine how Bart races around in leather pants - the chafing... oi... And Ollie surely can't sneak up on anyone to pin them to the wall if everytime he pulls back his bow arm his suit creaks like an old ladies back. Maybe thats why he constantly uses the incredibly annoying mini crossbow eh ;)

Can i pull a Kanye and say "CW doesn't like colored people?"

I mean, wtf, with the Legion and everything. I understand the Legion cuz it's not exactly a diverse team (could put Chameleon Boy and I woulda liked it. The guy's orange.)

But there's Michael Holt, who is made for TV. There are no colored characters on Smallville or Gossip Girl (save for one hot latina). There's one on 90210.

Does CW stand for Caucasian & White?

So that's my rant. I'm not in a good mood, mostly for personal reasons. Good night. :)

Nice rant but I have to disagree. Smallville has shown madd love to folks whom are :fhm: by the sun. Actually the material on which Smallville is based lack the diversity of any NYC Borough. :cwink:

Yea you shouldn't be complaining. Clarks best friend and one of the main characters for 3 seasons I believe, was Pete Ross (An African American) who just got arrested for drug dealing btw.

well yea in smallville's world no one is wearing tights per say as hero costumes. So it would be odd for someone to just be wearing tights now. Sure the whole jacket/pants thing isnt the best. But it still envokes the essence of the costumes they are. And who knows how jsa suits will be. My guess stargirl could be along the lines of legion costumes, hawkman i have no clue right now, as for fate i think with how they were able to pull of persaduer's look fate couldnt be to hard to do.

An observation and a wild thought ....

Hawkman and Doctor Fate have some similarities in their backgrounds. Hawkman is an archaeologist, Fate the son of an archaeologist. Hawkman is a reincarnated Egyptian prince, Fate gets his abilities from an ancient Egyptian sorcerer.

Could the villain in this ep have some tie to these two specifically or share the similarities somewhat? Hath-Set, maybe Vandal Savage? Or maybe Black Adam? (we can dream, right?)

well i doubt black adam since he is a captain marvel villain and is long rumored to be in the shazam film that seems to be back on track now, vandal savage isnt likely to show up on smallville(unless u want to count curtis knox being vandal but not in name).

Enough with the trench coats, I think Fate should wear a cape. If Hawkman's gonna be walking around with giant wings, and Fate's wearing the helmet, why try to reign things in? They're older Superheroes so they don't have to be "hip" and decked out in leather.

Maybe Clark could even make a comment about how surprisingly cool the cape looks when Dr.Fate flys...

well jones said a week or so ago on twitter he saw the costume designs and they were faithful to the characters. Stargirl i can see to be very easy. Now if they do what they did with persauder for fate he should turn out just fine. Now hawkman is the one i wonder how he will turn out.

From GJ's twitter:

Geoff Johns : "If you see Hawkman, tell him he shouldn't mess with Clark. Really."

He's also said Hawkman will be doomed.

:wow:

I personally think as much as the try and get away from it, but like other posters have said the JSA members (minus Stargirl) should wear their classic uniforms, Dr. Fate should be wearing blue tights and a gold cape plus his full helmet. Hawkman should wear his red and green pants and the wing harness.

I was also thinking of why they didn't use Wildcat seeing how he would have been the easiest one to due on the budget, but I was thinking and I really really don't think this will happen but on tomorrow's episode if Oliver has to fight a gentleman named Ted Grant in Roulett's cage match. It would be sweet but like I said it's not going to happen just wishfull thinking.

Just posted this in Spoilers thread, though if you didnt go there here it is:
BIG NEWS
www.***********/geoffjohns0
Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders made this happen. They wanted it to be HUGE and they wanted Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Stargirl done right.

Glen Winter is directing "Society" and Tom Welling is directing "Legends." They both brought so much to Legion.

Yes, my "Society" episode of SMALLVILLE is actually an insane DCU infused two-part epic. Part I is "Society" and Part II is "Legends."

Well there we go its confirmed now JSA is a two parter how sweet is that.

I hope they have the JLA members in one of these parts!

WOW! A two-part JSA episode written by GJ and directed by Glen and Tom!! Not to mention naming part 2, "Legends"!! Man, these episodes will be EPIC stuff if they live up to their hype!:wow:

Wouldn't it be great if they aired both episodes on the same night back to back and the CW promoted it as a Smallville big night event/ TV movie!! I mean come on, they air a repeat of Top Model for NO. REASON.:whatever: Dawn better stuck it up and do this for the fans of Smallville, because without us, Smallville wouldn't still be on air, which means this show wouldn't have saved her job year after year since the CW debuted!:o

oh totally it would be a very smart move for the CW to air them together as a back to back TV movie event thing. But dawn is probably not going to go for it. But man it would probably be the best numbers for a CW friday for them to do it. As for jla members i am sure one or maybe 2 more members will be invovled. Which one no clue certain cast members are busy with other work and others i dont know what they are doing.

Oh I could see almost 5 million viewers. With live action Hawkman, Dr.Fate, an Stargirl? Plus Clark, Oliver, and if there's any JL members. Also the back to back with all that everyone would tune in.

oh yea that as i and others across other boards are probably saying with be the best thing for the network to do. But we know dawn is stupid with scheduling things. She rather have a stupid top model rerun with smallville. Though yea as i said if they aired it as a special "EVENT TV MOVIE" and get some decent promos out for it, and no sport stuff preempting in any markets they could probably pull some good numbers in ratings.

So i posted this thought over at Ksite boards. I was wondering what you guys would think of this:

i cant wait to hear story details. it would be great if johns does make it so the jsa(hawkman/fate(others if mentioned)) were from the 1940s, and by what ever means are aging slowly. They went inactive in the 60s, maybe have fate make the world(ie regular folks) forget they existed. So that all the old members could try and live a normal life in peace. Then we can say maybe some old member is killed offscreen(by X villain of the episodes). Lets say starman for example who was close to say a family member of Stargirl. So she stumbles about the cosmic staff thing. She knows of the jsa from said family member. She then looks for hawkman and fate to tell them they are in danger from "X villain". So that is how these 3 jsa members are all together.

Then Say maybe Clark runs into said "X villain" while he is in metropolis for some reason. Then with the help of ollie/chloe(watchtower) they stumble about information on the jsa. Then some how jsa(fate/hawkman/stargirl) have a run in with clark/jl. Thinking at first maybe they are working for "X Villain" and their is a miss communication and then a fight breaks out between both. Then they relize they are on the same side. And things go from there.

Zatanna dammit!!!
