Marvel seems to have dropped the whole love interest thing lately.
Have they, though? Valkyrie and Thor don't end up together in Ragnarok and Peter and Gamora don't end up together in GOTG2, but Homecoming still had a whole romance subplot with Liz and the ending made it pretty obvious they're setting up MJ to be the love interest in the sequel.
And I'm pretty sure the character Lupita Nyong'o is playing in Black Panther is a love interest as well.
The most they're doing is kinda acknowledging some characters have a thing for one or the other but there's no big kiss or sudden "let's become a thing" scene.
I just remembered that Scott and Hope ---Steve and Sharon did have a sudden "let's become a thing" kiss scene, that was a tad weird, but then they cut the Peter and Liz kiss scene, so I don't know..
Peter and Gamora were a couple by the end of GOTG2.
Strange and his former love didn't get back together. They are good friends though, I think they will remain that way. If Strange gets a love interest it would be Clea but I don't see it being mushy love.
I don't know about them dropping "romance" but I do think they tend to lose sight of their romantic plots or have been forced by outside circumstances to shelve them. I mean, look how long it took them to get Tony and Pepper married. Thor had an obvious love triangle set up but injuries sidelined Sif's actress and then Portman just kinda gave up being part of the MCU.
I do have to ask... Given that the audience really has no clue about the Mar-Vell back story will they end up presenting Marv-Ell and Lawson as two people at first and then go for a reveal?
