Captain Marvel Jude Law IS ????

Wonder what look they will go with for Mar-vell. I hope it's the blue/red version as opposed to the green Kree space marine/gladiator.

Blue/red anyday. Anyday. Although in 35 years I've never been able to work out Marv's mask (in particular the way Starlin drew it) - like how did he get his sideburns over his mask?

Gotta be blue/red.

Yeah I would be dissapointed if we didn't see Blue red. Plus it explains Carol's outfit

I'm on the same page as you guys. Wouldn't mind seeing Kree soldiers dressed similarly to the second puc though.

Nice to see the ye' olde design getting love... But strangely I'm not on the same page here with ya'll.

First, while I love the cosmic protector look for Marv, I think that with Carol being the protagonist that they wouldn't want there to be any confusion over costuming, yes, even with the two characters being different sexes. Also, we've seen some concept art of the Kree and the suits look closer to the green/white look, so I am assuming that Marv will sport a similar uniform.

On the other hand... If they integrate the Eon/Protector of the Universe stuff... Maybe he has that outfit to signify him being a secret agent of Eon?

That begs the question of whether the Eon stuff with Marv would even be in the movie, though?

I also just think that the modernized version of the green suit just looks more alien and sci fi.

So Jude Law refused to play Superman but now is OK with playing Mar-Vell ? Strange.

Haha, kinda apples & oranges there chief. Waaay less responsibility & commitment to a little supporting role, likely a single movie, here. Superman is a big honkin' deal.

This thing's probably way more comparable to friggin' Yinsen in Iron Man or Erskine in TFA. Maybe a little more significant screen-time wise, but it'll probably be that type of role.

I'm the opposite. I'd prefer Carol's costume to be a tribute to Mar-Vell's costume. That doesn't make sense unless it's the red, black, and gold one. I get the logic for why it should be green, etc., but that just complicates things.

Yeah, maybe that's the reason.

Why should it be green though? None of the Kree we've seen in the MCU so far wear green. No-one dresses in either of those uniforms.

The Kree also seem to have been portrayed as completely villainous in Agents of SHIELD. How many good Krees have we seen?

And how is Mar-Vell going to suddenly not be blue skinned when all of the others are? How will they explain that? Unless he will be blue skinned too?

He said he couldn't picture himself in the role.

There is a lot of expectation and preconceived notions that come with a role like Superman.

Mar-Vell is different. We have never seen a live action version of the character before. The character is less well known than superman and is very different.

I think he was also asked to play Zod by Bryan Singer but again he said no. Guess, it was not as 'different' as Mar-Vell is.

Law was also portrayed as Ozymandias in all the concept art for Watchmen according to Matthew Goode who is the actor who eventually played the charcter in the movie.

Jude Law was supposedly a bit of a comic fan growing up.

Law would have made a good Terence Stamp-esque Zod. Would've been intriguing.

Question: Does everyone want Marv to be already a renegade Kree trying to save Earth from domination/destruction? Or is that something that should evolve over the course of the film until he dies?

Also, unlikely as it may be, does anyone want to integrate the Eon/Protector of the Universe/Cosmic Consciousness into the proceedings?

Finally, given the comic history, how would ya'll feel about MCU Marv having had some kind of history with Thanos?

Yeah, I want him to already be an active superhero, one that's been secretly fighting to protect Earth for years. He's not the one who should go through the hero's journey, it's not his movie.

Agreed. Playing Superman is very different.

I had no clue Jude Law nor Mar-Vell were in this film

Based on the first photos of Larson in costume, she's wearing a black and green uniform, which is a clear nod to Captain Marvel's first uniform and the ones worn by the Kree.

And perhaps answering the question of what look Marv is going to have.

I think there's probably no chance of seeing Mar-Vell in his classic costume now if he dies early on. But then, why would Carol be inspired to wear a red and blue costume like his? Why would she change colours if she's already wearing a green and dark grey costume which is probably inspired by him?

Maybe he could have a costume change too? What if, as Krypton Inc was wondering, he wasn't a full renegade yet and he changes into the red/blue to she his arc from soldier to hero?

I would love it if they mentioned he has a son at some point. Great Easter egg for hulkling.

Plus it’s a nice bit of drama in the sequel when they find out he hooked up with a Skrull

If you want a GREAT read about one of Marv's offspring you really ought to check out the run Peter David did in the early 2000's with Genis when he took up the mantle Captain Marvel after being introduced in AVENGERS: FOREVER (which is another insanely great read if you haven't ever given it a whirl).

Genis was introduced in the 90's and frankly... He kinda sucked. But David got him into some insanely great, funny and heartbreaking stories.

If you haven't I highly recommend checking them out.

It’s funny they look like they were way more influenced by the ultimate version. He had a ray gun with that look right? I wonder if maybe when Carol inherits her powers she won’t be able to zap too? Maybe she gets his ray gun too. That would be cool

The Ultimate design was influenced by Mar-Vell's original Kree suit when he debuted.
