Can they at least bring back the Dilophosaurus in the fourth one?

This may be stupid of me, but I have to ask, are the dinosaur looks/designs in these movies somewhat accurate to the real dinosaurs? Ever since these movies, I always envisioned a T Rex or a raptor as the ones that are in these movies.

Well, they had a highly regarded paleontologist help them out, so for the most part, the dinosaurs were accurate for the time (as te years go on, we learn more and more). There are a few artistic changes made...there's no evidence to suggest that dilophosaurs spit venom, nor is there any to suggest that they had a large neck frill. The biggest misconception brought about by the movie deals with the raptors: the ones in the movie were actually based on the deinonychus, a larger relative of the velociraptor, who was actually only 3 feet tall and had a long, slender head and jaws.

Yes and no.

Let me give you some info. Velociraptors are the size of chickens.

At the time of this book, when Jurassic Park was written (a book first), the species of Dromeasaur called Deinonychus was thought to be a member of the Velociraptor family. So they used this dinosaur in Jurassic Park, and called it Velociraptor, and ran with it.

Actuality, the raptor used in these moves are not Velociraptors, but they are actually Dromeasaurs called Deinonychus

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deinonychus

And the t rex, more than likely did not have those crests over its eyes, and it was probably a little bit more heavily built than it was in Jurassic Park.

For the record, Jurassic Park 3 was horrible, partially because of the idea of a Spinosaurus being able to over power the neck muscles of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and snaps its neck. Cause first of all, a spinosaurus had hollow teeth, and probably wouldn't be able bit through the neck without hurting its teeth. Secondly, the way it is so lightly built (it was just such a massive dinosaur though, pound for pound, light) it's neck couldn't handle the twisting motion. THIRDLY, a tryrannosaurus was the most evolved carnivorous dinosaur, estimated to have the largest bite force of any carnivore, and due to its un-proportionally large head, had massive neck muscles, so the second the rex got its mouth on the damn things neck, it would have crushed the spinosaurus neck. And secondly, the idea of a spinosaurus grabbing a Rex's neck, and actually being able to over power it, and fight the rex's resistance, and win, is just ridiculous!

-rant over -_-

Yes, aside from marvel comics, I am a dinosaur geek

I agree with the thoughts about the spinosaurus/trex fight. I thought the concept of these two big carnivores going at it was cool but when they actually started fighting, i realized how lame it really was. It was as if the writers were thinking that the only way to establish the spinosaurus as the main threat was for it to kill a TRex in a fight, which is exactly what happened. It should have been incredibly obvious even to the general audience that NO DINOSAUR could best a TRex in a straight-up fight. That was the whole point of the TRex killing the raptors in the first one.

Lol, this is exactly what they thought. They say that pretty much verbatim in the DVD features.

I bought the book on my kindle and am reading it right now. First time I've ever read it from beginning to end.

A lot of the characters were inverted from their book counterparts.

Alright thanks! And I agree, the T Rex vs Spino fight in JP 3 was lame, ( JP 3 is my least favorite JP movie). I am hoping that if this fourth film gets off the ground, that it will be in par with the first movie.

I saw Jurassic Park 3 again and it doesn't hold up at all. I was shocked on how cheesy it was while the original remains timeless.

Agreed. T-Rex vs Spinosaurus was a terrible representation of what would actually transpire if these two giants were to have ever met. There's no way in hell that Spino would be able to overpower T-Rex. Spino was basically an overgrown crocodile (nothing against the specie). When comparing the two, it's not close. Tyrannosaurus had the stronger bite. Period.

http://www.ibtimes.com/t-rex-bite-force-stronger-previously-calculated-418382

The already fearsome Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur may have been even deadlier than previously thought.

The extinct T. rex bit 10 times harder than a modern alligator and four times harder than previously calculated, according to a computer model of the dinosaur generated by researchers from the University of Liverpool.

This newfound force means the T. rex had the strongest bite of any land animal ever. Getting bitten by one would have felt like being sat on by an elephant.

JP3 couldn't hold up even when it was released. It was terrible from start to finish, imo.

And those hubrid design aren't bad, I just don't want this direction for JP evah.
