Jurassic Park IV - Part 1

I dont understand the reason why this hasnt been cranked out yet. I mean we got 3 transformers movies in 5 years time.

Especially with Universal light on franchises as well. They have their Bourne and Fast/Furious films for the past decade while squeezing out whatever they could out of the Mummy and American Pie franchises with mainly Direct-To-DVD films. So not much.

Every other studio pumps out sequels while Universal can't get anything going. They just now seem to be amping up sequels. Jaws is still their 5th largest film in North America nearly 40 years later.

They were re-writing JPIII on set and that didn't turn out well. Still, with all the writers out there nobody could come up with a script that could move forward? That's why a reboot is their best option so they can then plan out sequels or a way to setup the 2nd film, have it end with a cliffhanger or a good reason to go back. They phoned it in for JPIII but a revamp could do better.

I agree about the embryos. It would have made more sense than the "oh by the way, we bred them on this other island, then moved them to the park", which totally contradicted what we saw in Jurassic Park.

See, I know there's a line about the facilities at the park in TLW being just for show, but here's my take. I think Site B was the original like we were told, and a lot of initial breeding was done there. However, once the park was built, they built facilities there because even for InGen I could see it getting costly to ship over new dinosaurs all the time. Not to mention, why have real DNA, as well as real incubators like the Raptor eggs when the general population wouldn't be allowed to see it outside that glass theater ride.

my idea is the original island in the 1st one is declared a no fly zone for anyone but a rival company who is looking to create there own dinosaurs discovers that in the old facility there are still dna samples on all the species in perfect hibernation. A 15-man team is prepped along with 3 scientist and a leader of the prep team who has there own agenda from the rival company. Once they make there way onto the island and reach the facility that was the infamous shot of the t-rex with the banner they discover someone has been there and taken all the samples except for the raptors. They discover one of there men is missing but can trace his signal from his belt. one of the scientist begs them to stay in the facility where they are safe but the prep team insist on looking for him. after they realized the man was ripped apart the dinosaurs begin to attack. The big reveal or twist would be that one of the scientist and the prep team leader are actually there to "restart" the power grid to drive the dinosaurs back into there pens and then ultimately take the glory for themselves and become billionaires by being in control. Its also revealed that the 2 betrayers actually snuck away at night when the team was sleeping the first night to take the vials and systematically kill the team from stopping them at reaching there goal. our hero who is the 3rd scientist finds out and stops them by letting a t-rex loose on them and the final shot is with the power restored one of the prep team soldiers getting on a secret helicopter and handing the dna samples off to tycoon.

While the 2nd and 3rd films weren't perfect i think that they should just move on from that, many of the dinossaurs got off the island and started to breed all around the world, there's a lot of potencial with this premiese, instead of just making a film where they investigate the island again.

The fact that the guy that wrote the Rise of the Planet of the Apes script is a good indicator that we can expect some cool scenes with Dinossaurs causing havoc.

They should just make this into Cowboys and Dinosaurs. It's more original.

Fox has Walking with Dinosaurs 3D for Christmas 2013.

Pixar has The Good Dinosaur coming out May 2014.

And if Dinos vs Aliens moves forward that will also be out in 2014/2015.

Probably the earliest the next Jurassic Park film can come out is 2014 but likely 2015. So at the very least there will be a younger audience interested in dinosaurs when the next one comes out.

Interest in dinosaurs does seem to come in waves. People were crazy about it in the late 19th century. And then again a century later. Not that they ever really lost appeal.

Theshape oh come on like I said if there is a reason like the dinos starting to die. The media/scientists would be all over this. To find out what is going on. You can have a group of scientists/survivalists going to the island to cure the dinos or so what's going on. We still get some dinos who are not infected and could be there trrouble they face. Or they could go the route maybe some rival bio firm is after ingen success with dinos creation/or wanting to use the dinos for some other weapons needs. Which could play into an interesting angle.

Seeing Jurassic park as a kid was a defining moment of my childhood. I couldn't tell you how many times Ive read the books and how many hours I've poured over dinosaur books and drawings as a kid. This series (and dinosaurs as a whole) mean a great deal to me.

That being said, I really can't see how they could continue this franchise, much less keeping it fresh and upping the quality of the last film. And while a part of me would be interested in seeing a new, more accurate take on the book, I kinda feel like a reboot is sacrilegious. But we really do need a good Dino movie....there is only one answer:

Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.

An thing could easily happen you just have to think of things. Not any different then other films doing many sequels or original new films. There is really no need to say jp is dead, or to reboot it right now.

Yes, one could think of a number of stories, but would any of them be any good enough to justify the movie? THAT is the question. I'm not against another movie, obviously, but it needs to be damn good, especially considering they said it "wouldn't be right" to make another one when Michael Crichton died.

I think the first one pretty much did what you could of done with this type of premise. The sequels just repeated it, with less compelling characters. And like what I said before, I think the first one worked the most because it was an accident and the mostly non-heroic characters were not proactively looking for trouble.

There are two writers; a Guy and a Girl. ;)

They have to take it to a full urban invasion.. but the United States is too far away from the island.. have it somewhere in Latin America..

To be fair though, in The Lost World, Malcolm wanted to get the hell out of there once he got Sarah and knew how dangerous is was going to be. It was more Sarah's stubborness and curiosity that made them stay.

Blame it on the woman. :cmad:

At least Malcolm should have got his credibility back after The Lost World :woot: & Malcolm was the only smart character in the movie

I say reboot and follow the first book. I love JP1 but I think a reboot could be so vastly different if they adhere to the book.

If they do JP4, I want the entire first cast back except for Lex and Timmy. I want Alan, Ellie, and Ian back together. That's part of the reason the sequels sucked.

Have it be set in South American rainforest. Some dinosaurs were smuggled back to the mainland and they got loose and have been breeding the past 20 years and terrifying natives.

Or...do a Turok movie.

I also fear if they did follow the book, would they keep it as dark as it was?

Hopefully, it was pretty dark...a crap ton of people died.

In very grotesque ways, too :D

Hell, even nedry's freaking death was toned down in the movie. Lol
