Jurassic World - Part 10

I was pretty disgusted at his character when he steps outside from the control center and views the chaos at the park when the pterodactyls attack and looks as if he enjoys what's happening. The first time i saw the movie i literally yelled out "this motherf**ker!" Yup, i have to admit this movie had me making on the fly comments quite a bit! It was fun.

The Hoskins character IMHO was not very well written, and the subplot was beyond goofy. I agree with that.

Yeah I wasn't feeling Vincent D'Onofrio's character or performance. It was far too cartoonish for such a film and I found his plans/motivation nonsensical and unbelievable.

I felt like the character was purposely there to get under the audiences skin, whether it was by annoying us or angering us. And if you look at it that way then the character was actually well written. I know at the end when he is trying to sweet talk the raptor I really wanted the raptor to attack his pompous a**. There were a lot of moments that made me despise him, to say the least.

For me it was too blunt and stupid. A guy with no lines continuously farting and blowing a whistle would have a similar effect of getting under the audience's skin in an annoying way.

But he wanted to use the raptors as a military weapon and had to test them out.

The shear fact someone would think it's a good idea to use such dangerous animals for the military is why this movie feels like a B-grade film to me.

I never thought using raptors against the i-Rex was a believable strategy to take it down, anyway.

I think the theory was for the Raptors to track it and for the team to take it out.

I could at least semi-buy it if there had been successful attempts at training raptors for years. But in the film they are just having the very first hints of a breakthrough with four raptors learning a few basic common tricks and all of a sudden D'Onofrio is acting like it is a finished program with raptors ready to be used immediately. Even after an incident where they nearly killed a handler and Pratt had to dash being a gate to avoid being attacked himself.

still my fave track on the JW soundtrack, right in the feels!

I normally hate call backs in sequels because it feels pandering and not able to stand on its own feet. But the call back to JP was excellent. I got really nostalgic.

the whole score was great but that one track, suddenly I was back in the theater seeing JP in 1993 :awesome:.

I loved how 'Journey to the Island' was worked in at the end, when the helicopter flew around the island. Perfect.

It looks like that's where the sequel is heading and B.D's character will be cooking up more hybrid dinos too. He should cross a T-Rex with a Pterodactyl so a flying T-Rex would be more terrifying. JP's version of a dragon without the fire breeding.

Yeah, I love him as the Kingpin, but I didn't like him in this at all. That said, it wasn't entirely his fault - the character's monologues were overwritten, overlong and overterrible. But he hammed it up a little too much, too, imo.

At the end of the day, D'Onofrio took the director's direction. Unless Treverrow didn't have enough experience handling well seasoned actors.

Everything has to be 'sophisticated' now. Sometimes I think it's refreshing to see a moustache twirling obvious villain.

They should have removed the entire weaponized sub-plot. The I-Rex's existence can be explained by them wanting a more interesting attraction, which they did. The military stuff didn't really add anything.

I think the sub plot is there for the set up of a sequel. If the next movie is 'Jurassic War', no one can say the plot line is out of left field.

Ugh. That's a terrible, terrible idea for a sequel. I guess it's that or they go back to the island to do something inane.

Oh I mostly blame the writing and directing for sure.

The island is done as no one will go back there so what else can they do for a sequel?

I actually really want to see the military dinosaurs in the next film, just for the shear absurdity of the concept. An interesting angle someone proposed would be for the next film to be a court case against Ingen.
