Jurassic World - - Part 11

I loved that they kept her in heels...

I just thought it was funny that people complained about something so small and pointless. Talk about a nick pick lol. If you want to nick pick about that you could nick pick about ever thing in ever movie lol.

In Rogue Nation, Rebecca Ferguson takes off her high heels for her action scenes because her character is not an idiot.

The heels thing just emphasises that it's a B-grade movie plot with an A-grade budget.

It is, but also an A-grade budget spent well and with a big fun factor.

Hope it can creep past Titanic for no.2.

It's a really good film. Action-packed, fun and tense at the same time

I really like the nods to the first one. Could even been more of that.

Those things dropped off after all the nerds went to see it, and dragged their family and friends alongside them.

In the domestic market this film kicked Avengers: Age Ultron's ass.

I think it would be more fair to compare how the JW sequel does compared to AoU now that the novelty factor has worn off.

JW is the fourth in a series and it had to overcome the fact that it was a sequel to a bad film that came out 14 years ago. JW was the underdog so the comparison is more than fair.

The fact that the last sequel came out 14 years ago actually helped it as enough time has passed that tge concept seemed fresh again, whereas AoU had only a few years and other Marvel movies in between. All I'm saying it's more fair to compare JW box office with Avengers 1 than AoU.

I guarantee there were a lot of kids in the JW audience that weren't even born when the last sequel came out and never even saw it.

There is really no good reason to compare JW to Avengers 1. A1 didn't come out this year nor is it in the same genre. If we are going to look beyond this year and want to be "fair" then JW should be compared to something closer to it which would be Godzilla.

That is irrelevant tho. Box Office numbers are what they are and JW beat AoU no matter how we slice it.

Exactly...and even if you want to go ahead and compare it to the first, it still beat that one too. There's really no excuse....people liked the film immensely & thought it was worth the money. It's not about novelty...if that's the case you can apply that to any movie that's made that much money & not just this one.

I'm still confident it'll happen, especially with it being so close and still making good money. Titanic had the benefit of a re-release to bump it up to that $658 million figure, but I doubt if JW will need the same treatment.

I don't believe in counting re-release numbers. Avengers beat Titanic.

Kind of sad that more than half are sequels.

Name recognition sells. Only one of those movies, namely Star Wars, has no concrete name recognition behind it. (Lucas had to fall back on piles and piles of instantly recognizable tropes and clichés.)

I don't see how it's sad, either. People like continuing stories.

Indeed. There's nothing sad about it at all. I do think more original properties need support (Edge of Tomorrow comes to mind) but there's nothing heartbreaking about sequels earning substantial dough. Hollywood loves them and so do we.
