Jurassic World - - Part 11

Just gonna pop in again quickly. To maybe piss some people off which would be awesome. And just to say again how much I ****ing LOVED this movie. My favorite of the series right along with the original JP. Loved it, loved it, loved it. Bring on all the hate and crying! Mwahahaha! :woot:

Also, excited as hell to buy the deluxe edition blu ray with the statues of the Rex and I-Rex :word:

What are these statues like? Sounds like something I would definitely want!

They're pretty bad ass.

Ok... rant in 3, 2, 1... Nah, It's a good thing you had a good time watching the film... unlike some of us... :woot: who want their money back...

(IMO this franchise should have died just after the original. The sequels feel so bad in comparison, but that's just me...)

The movie's got a **** ton of problems, in the SFX, characters. script etc. All that... but damn it if I didn't have a great, great time. It's still my favourite of the year so far. Loved it.

So very obviously fake.

That statue, on the other hand, is FANTASTIC (to quote Masrani). :D

I find it odd that this made such a ****ton of money, yet JP3 didn't. What did this have that JP3 didn't? It can't JUST be Chris Pratt. He's not THAT great. And it can't be the nostalgia factor either, because JP3 had a decade to build that up too.

It's so weird - a total fluke. This movie had like nothing going for it.

JP3 only came out four years after The Lost World, which wasn't all that well received. I guess people were getting tired of the whole "Let's find a way to bring an original cast member back to an island with dinosaurs" song and dance.

I don't know... in a world where stuff like Transformers can make over a billion worldwide nothing really surprises me anymore.

I think the fact it had a decent story line - wasn't just about running from dinosaurs for 2 to 3 hours, made it different enough people were interested, the story line wasn't bad, yes their was scenes that were terrible, (i loved the movie), the overall story line wasn't a bad one, it was interesting in a sense that the characters were easy too connect with, the kids were constantly on their phones and not really paying attention, the adults had the money grabbers, the ones who were looking for adventure, the ones that were so focused on work. Their was a lot more relatable stuff than in JP3 - which tried playing on the divorced parents, two friends that saw things differently, and an overall weak story plot.

JP3 seems like more of a knock off of JP1, than a true sequel.

Saw this making the rounds on 4chan.... Probably nothing?

The D23 Licensing Expo is going on right now so its possible that it is real. Most of the posters that are brought to the Expo are very reserved, limited, and quick mock-ups not meant for public release so a poster like this looks like something that would be shown at D23.

Nostalgia 14 years of inflation and it is by far the best received Jurassic park sequel and the first sequel that is over all consider a good movie.

I think a big part of it WAS the nostalgic factor, but a version of it which neither of the other sequels had - finally showcasing the working park, which every kid who saw the original fantasized about at some point. Pratt's meteoric rise in popularity had a lot to do with it as well though, I think.

Also, I've mentioned this theory in other threads before about other films, but I think a bright and sunny aesthetic goes a long way toward making a summer blockbuster look appealing to audiences. JP3 looked so...gray. People underestimate how much a color palette can affect people's preferences, imo.

Timing is everything. This seemed to be the perfect time for a JP film, whether it was an amazing movie or not.

Marketing, marketplace, competition (or lack of), release date, distance between the last films that led to more demand this time -- all played a role in making this a smash hit.

That's an excellent point. You're right.
Lost World and JP3 basically rehashed the concept of an abandoned place that never worked, so it was more of the same.

I still think bringing back Jeff Goldblum in a supporting role would greatly improve things. And I think the Pratt/Goldblum dynamic would be a hilarious and awesome treat to see. It can still be Pratt's show, but Goldblum should be there.

Goldblum just going "I told you so" and pointing out the sheer idiocy of "making your own dinosaurs" would have been hilarious. He wasn't fond of what John Hammond was doing, so I can just imagine what he thought about what Masrani and Claire were up to.

He's probably been back in the states trying tirelessly to get the park shut down...

People are really surprised this did better than JP3?

JP3 sucked big time.
