Jurassic World - - Part 11

Nah.

I'm sure we will see other Wu creations.

It was just the way it went out like in a comic, we never actually see it die and the thing had fish DNA, just makes me curious.

Oh, she's definitely dead. There's no question there haha. If she survived that would be pretty far fetched, imo. Best to move on to a new Indominus or a new hybrid altogether.

Anyone else think there is a chance the I-Rex survived the Mosasaur? On both viewings I found it strange the way we don't actually see the I-Rex die and things just tend to go quiet once they both go under the water.

depends whether Henry Wu also used wolverine-dna for it. it has big claws, so it might just bust it's way out of the mosa inside-out.

either way, it's best killed off like it was and not to come back. that makes the character much stronger and more lasting/praised, instead of it returning to 'milk it' to the bone and totally take away it's character strenght from JW.

Either way i'm just sad there's 1 poor little raptor left.

Something that crossed my mind though; the original Jurassic Park movie's T-Rex supposedly was born in 1990, and an adult by 1993, as it clearly was an adult in the Jurassic Park movie. The JW movie takes place 22 years later, thus the Rex is 25 years old.

The oldest found T-Rex (Sue) was 28 years of age, whilst multiple findings show usually rexes die within 6 years after sexual maturity. Sue supposedly reached full growth at 19 years of age, so the death around 6 years is close in this one, 9 to be precise. That makes Rexy already 6 years into 'normal', whilst being bred 'bastardised' and living in captivity, and having had some run-ins with other predators (raptors) etc.

I don't know what they're going to do with the again-trashed island, obviously rexy is roaming free now, roaring at the top of concrete structures. But, he's 3 years short of the oldest found Rex specimen.

As sad as that may be, i really hope they find a way to keep this legend alive. I'm just sad it's been living alone for it's entire life.

It'd be silly if she survived that haha.

I've seen a few posts talk about the dinosaurs being the same ones we saw in Jurassic Park. I figured the new owners just made new dinosaurs. Where are people getting this from? I don't remember it in the movie.

That dinosaur crocodile would've ate it even if she has fish DNA.

I don't know if this is relevant anymore because there's no doubt whatsoever, and some might have spotted it already but on the website of the t-rex kingdom, it's made clear that "she's been living on Isla Nublar for over twenty-five years." They took their time to confirm it.

Ah, I never kept up with viral campaign, thanks fellas.

T-Rex is the only dinosaur from the original that should be alive so that's probably the only one they were really referring to.

And the I-Rex was definitely a tough beast but she's dead. At the very least, her neck should've been broken from the initial bite so as stated above, unless she has Wolverine's DNA she's 100% dead. No ambiguity there.

totally offtopic:

i read rumours about the new wolverine movie being based upon 'old man logan'....

there are dino's in their. including a venom-controlled t-rex.
boom! jurassic world universe gets mixed into x-men universe.

technically the jp-dino's are mutants, too. which side to take?! :woot:

I don't know if I like the idea of another hybrid dinosaur. I know there's only so much you can do with the T-Rex and the Raptors, but they're not the only meat eating dinosaurs out there.

I was just stating that a new hybrid is more likely to appear than the same I-Rex from JW. Would be nice if maybe the I-Rex could return...maybe she left an egg around somewhere? Who knows?

But I agree, I'd love to see Albertosaurus, Carnotaurus, Nanotyrannus & perhaps a return from Spinosaurus. There are so many dinosaurs that I definitely hope they plan on showing off more 'new' ones next time.

I think we'll see at least one more hybrid since the screens showed Wu was working on them. Likely had already created eggs of them.

Did they ever mention what the Indominus Rex was engineered from other than that chameleon fish? I think they provide hints to what else she was made up of, but I can't remember them all.

So i went back and watched this a 2nd time because my son wanted to see it again on his birthday. The movie doesn't do nearly as well on a 2nd viewing. The military deal and Denofrio just take the story way beyond where we check our logic at the door for just believing in living dinosaurs. The kids are even more annoying this time around. I'm guessing the "wow" factor is gone since I know where all the interesting dinosaur interactions with the main characters takes place. This caused me to be a little more critical of the story & setup. Of course, my son loves it as much as the 1st viewing. For a family movie, this is all that really matters.

I originally thought JP was the better movie, now I have no doubt that JP is far superior to JW. JW is not that much better than LW and I can see why some people would like LW better.

In any case, after a 2nd viewing I would give it a generous 6/10.

I absolutely loved the movie, but I think it will be interesting to see again once the nostalgia and excitement wear off. It's certainly flawed.

They mentioned Raptor, cuttle fish, tree frog, T-Rex. And I'm probably forgetting one.

"Some of the known species that were used in the creation of the hybrid are Tyrannosaurus,Velociraptor, Carnotaurus, Giganotosaurus, Majungasaurus, Rugops, and Therizinosaurus as well as modern animals like cuttlefish and an unspecified species of Tree frog."

Finally got around to seeing the movie. It was a fun time. All the critiques that everyone else pointed out are very present: The paper thin characters, the idiocy of wanting to use raptors as war weapons (Let's train tigers as an attack force, see what happens). The kids were a bit annoying etc...

But the biggest flaw I think it had was that it needed more classic Spielberg. They build up the I-Rex, but show it wayyyy too fast. I would have held off for a while on showing the complete beast, get that anticipation up. But overall, this film couldn't capture that sense of fear that Spielberg so masterfully wove into the original film. Part of that is because the characters never felt like real people, and often their reactions felt insincere, or the script forced in levity to break the tension far too soon.

Me and my dad just got back from seeing this a second time. It was just as good as the first time. :)
