Jurassic World - - Part 11

I respected your opinion until you mentioned AOU and even Ant Man, which I enjoyed a lot, but that, and especially the big disappointment that was AOU, can't hold a candle to Mad Max Fury Fury Road. I do think JW and MI were great as well though.

I went in knowing nothing about mad max or the lore and that movie did nothing to really suck me in or care about any of the characters. The Marvel films were just way more fun and entertaining for me as were Jurassic World and Mission Impossible. Even though Straight Out Of Compton isn't a action movie I still found it to be better than Mad Max. I will give that movie another shot but I highly doubt my opinion will change all that much on it.

It's way better than Snowpiercer, imo (and I liked that movie).

Either way they're 10/10 in my book.

No, those would be Mad Max Fury Road and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

I feel that Jurassic World deserves that category oh so much more. Basing on the quality of the film (not that there's anything wrong with the other two) plus the gross & impact, JW is number one this year.

And it'll stay that way even after December & the next few months after it play out. :STR:

AOU was just a big disappointment, I can't think of anything, literally anything, in that movie that wasn't done better in MMFR. Ant Man was fun and I really liked it, but it wasn't better than MMFR. JW was great but had many more flaws than MM did, M:I was really good so I think that one comes the closest, not seen Compton.

People must have had realy high expectations for Age of Ultron, because i found it alright, more flawed than the first one, but also took more risks. Most of the criticisms the film got were present in the first Avengers film, which wasn't even all that impressive of a film.

Anyway, when it comes action films, Mad Max: Fury Road and Mission Impossible 5 have been the best ones by far, i would put Jurassic World, Avengers 2 and Ant-Man around the same level as entertaining films, but not particularly impressive. I'm glad the worst action films this year haven't been making any money, so far it's been Pixels, Fantastic Four and Hitman, Transporter will most likely be terrible too.

I thought AoU corrected some problems of the first (i.e giving Hawkeye a lot more time to shine & having more than one female hero) while kind of backpedaling on others (ala Ultron not being as strong a villain as Loki in terms of writing & performance).

Overall, I think many, while loving the film, thought it was an obligatory sequel on the road to Thanos and Infinity War.

In ninth, JURASSIC WORLD stomped back onto the chart with $3.1 million after a one-week return to IMAX screens. The unstoppable monstrosity is now up to $643 million domestic (not far from TITANIC's staggering $658 million) and $1.63 billion worldwide.

:awesome:

JW is my favourite movie of the summer. I enjoyed it more than Mad Max and MI: RN.
I liked all three movies however and will be purchasing all 3 on blu ray.

Even though there all different movies they were still the highlights of this summer for me. Alot of duds after mad max/ MI:RN/ JW AND ULTRON.

All the duds pretty much failed this year, which is a good thing, even though Minions made a Billion, it was mostly okay too, and much better than some of the winners of last year, like Transformers 4 or Maleficent.

Maleficent wasn't bad, imo, and I'm still really happy it did so well. But yeah, crap like Transformers probably isn't going to last long at this point...not when there's a steady influx of blockbusters that deliver BETTER action in a far more competent film that's actually saying something other than "Hey, I don't know how to make a real movie so here's three hours of CGI!"

And you're certainly right, all of the movies that deserved to fail this year failed. Seems some studios haven't caught on yet...like at all.

China's probably going to still feed teh Transformers film series though, but hopefuly this new story group will somewhat improve the script, it's better than having Kruger run loose. There's always going to be bad blockbusters around, but fortunately, it seems like quality in general is remaining steady right now, even China's big blockbuster this year (Monster Hunter) was vastly superior to the Monkey King, which came out last year.

Regarding Jurassic World, i think it's about time the threat goes global, seems like the next logical step after the military took those dinos.

There will always be terrible blockbusters, no doubt, but at this point I think they'll see less & less returns since people have more viable options to choose from.

And that would be a nice way to follow up and change the pace since every film thus far (aside from the ending of TLW) has been self-contained and sort of isolated. It's stating the obvious but it just has to be done in a way that's captivating & visually interesting....it can be done, it'll just take some true brainstorming. I want to see them explore new territory that we haven't touched on before, it's the only way the sequel is going to be a success.

Best movie of the year for me. Mad Max is now second and Mission Impossible 5 is third. Movie deserved every penny made on box office. I liked everything. Directing, acting, script, characters, action, CGI, pace. Just flawless movie.

Even though he was just exec producing, it felt like a Spielbergo flick. That Amblin vanity plate at the beginning got me pumped.

One of my favorite movies this year for sure. A huge JP fan and fan of the series. And JW for me is right up there with the original film. Can't wait to grab the blu ray. There hasn't been a steelbook announced has there?

Not that I have seen but keep checking around as theirs a specialist market for them these days. I have opted for that set with the T-Rex vs I-Rex statue. :D

Yeah Hunter I am gonna try to get that set as well with the statues :word: how you been?

I finally caught up with the rest of the world and... And I didn't like it. At all. Poorly structured, blandly staged, almost no visual cinematic storytelling to speak of (Spielberg's trademark), the Indominus was silly, the characters were thinly drawn, ply threads go nowhere, no sense of awe of wonder, and somehow the T-Rex looks worse than it did 22 years ago. I'm truly baffled at the massive response it got.
