Jurassic World - - Part 11

JW was fun but no, it had no character development and no real lessons learned since it all but rehashed Jurassic Park and reinforced a negative image of genetic engineering.

Genetic engineering for profit should be shown in a negative light.

Couldn't disagree more. I cared a lot about the characters in the movie personally.

Bit of a late reply this wasn't it?

This thread got buried and brought up again. Hadn't paid attention to it.

And what reason was there to care about the characters? Were we supposed to care about the kids surviving just so they could go home and watch their parents get divorced?

Did we care about Chris Pratt's character just because it was Chris Pratt playing him?

I don't see how the human characters in this were developed any differently than those in Godzilla or Transformers. It is an empty movie with no heart or soul where the plot drives the characters instead of the other way around.

A “Jurassic World” trilogy is planned; J.A. Bayona talks sequel development:

While there were whispers before, we now have confirmation from Jurassic World 2 director J.A. Bayona, while talking to Latino Review about his third film A Monster Calls (which just premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews) that World began an intended trilogy.

“I think they love ‘The Impossible’ and ‘The Orphanage’—especially Colin (Trevorrow) loved those movies,” he told LRM. “It’s very interesting. The whole ‘Jurassic World’ is a trilogy that Colin Trevorrow has envisioned. We’re writing the second chapter, and it’s very interesting where he’s leading the story. I grew up watching Steven Spielberg movies and I love those movies and the legacy, so it’s a question of being truthful to the legacy and at the same time, bringing new stuff that people will appreciate. We are still six months ahead of shooting, and so far, so good. It’s very exciting right now.”

As Bayona says, World director Colin Trevorrow (previous winner of said Nolan Gambit) and his co-writer Derek Connolly came up with the arc of the trilogy and are currently working on the sequel script, with a tentative filming start of February 2017 in Hawaii. New series leads Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are confirmed to return. It is scheduled for release June 22, 2018. Speculating here, the third film would likely hit summer 2021
.

A trilogy? Really? I'm shocked! Shocked I tell you! :sly:

Did anyone watch Screen Junkies' latest movie fights episode? I really liked Dan Murrell's version of Jurassic World. At the same time, parts of Max Landis' were pretty decent. His obsession with Saudi Arabia was a little much though.
