Well, I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun with it because of the scale. With your guys game, I'm gonna actually have to use my brain when I play. With Halo I'll just mindlessly run around and shoot people.

Anyhow any new pics? New info on guns? Confirmed prices? Release dates?

Oh, it looks a lot better.

First of all, Bungie is doing what I really wanted them to do coming into the next generation: They're making bigger environments and filling them with more enemies.

Halo 1 had those awesome missions, particularly the snow levels, where you were with fellow Marines driving Warthogs around, exchanging fire with dozens of enemies, and experiencing chaos in general which really helped make it feel like you were in an actual battle.

In Halo 2 that was quite scaled down in level size (it was to accomidate the online co-op that never made it in), but it made up for that by having excellent set pieces, good scripting and better A.I. It didn't feel quite like Halo should, but it was still a fantastic game.

Second, the game really does look better. There's a lot of fantastic effects and just high-quality everything going on there. On Chief it's hard to tell aside from high-res textures because they managed to make him look fantastic on the Xbox 1, but you can tell from the crashed vehicle that the overall graphical quality took a huge leap. It's also easier to tell from these new scans we're seeing that Bungie means graphical business. We'll really get to see it when they start showing Marines and more locations.

The game's only in Alpha at this point, though Mulitplayer is up and running pretty well supposedly so that's what they're showing.

Like Halo 2, they'll probably keep as much of the campaign as possible under wraps, but hopefully not because you'll be playing as an alien.

Regardless of how big the maps are that is still no excuse for bad art. But like you said...its not even a finished game yet. I just can't understand why they would release these screenshots knowing other games graphically look better. You are correct in what you say...BUT most people just look at a screenshot and base that on graphics without taking into consideration that it is a multiplayer online game. You have to be careful with screenshots...ESPECIALLY when you are Halo...cause you are under a microscope. You have to admit a lot of people are going to get the EGM and see these screenshots and be let down. Most people are NOT as educated about games as you are. So you have to take that into consideration as well.

I think Microsoft released the screenshots because the PS3 is coming out soon, and even though they have Gears of War and Viva Pinata coming, they want to get as much of their high-quality line-up into magazines as a reminder to gamers as to why they might want a 360 for Christmas.

Halo is one of those games that is easy to show. You put up a picture, people know what to expect and in general, how they will play what they're looking at. That's opposed to them showing say, Mass Effect, or Alan Wake which graphically blows away Halo 3 at this point, wouldn't quite do that as well. Well regardless of what I think about the screenshots does not matter. Halo 3 should be wonderful and I think its even going help sell more systems. And the more systems out there means the more copies of Gears that can be potentially sold Even though those screenshots don't look next gen.

Yeah, well I mean we agree that the screenshots aren't overwhelmingly good. I mean, I wouldn't throw a fit if the end game looked like that but I expect much more from Bungie.

But yeah, it'll be an awesome game, and Gears of War will outsell the PlayStation 3.

Already put them in there, the main reason some are in my room is because otherwise they'd be thrown away because your room is constantly being cleaned while mine has remained untouched for what seems a lifetime.

I found our old genesis games too, Vectorman and Sonic. Good old times.
