According to a recent developer interview, Crackdown 3 will be going back to its roots in terms of mission structureand that means itll share something in common with Nintendos recent open-world megahit, Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The first Crackdown tasked you with taking down three different criminal organizations on three different islands of Pacific City. You could dismantle each organization piece-by-piece by first taking down the lower-rank bosses, which would make taking down the main kingpin for each organization much easier.
Crackdown 2 still kept an open approach to missions, but you had to complete every objective in order to beat the game by activating all the Beacons and Absorption points throughout Pacific City.
Crackdown 3 will bring back the structure of the first game, though this time there is only one criminal empire, Terra Nova, that youll be tackling in the brand-new city of Providence.
That being said, you can skip all the lower bosses and go immediately to the end boss if you want. However, you will be taking on the Kingpin without any upgrades and with the full backing of Terra Nova buffing the Kingpins defenses.
You can check out Crackdown 3s design director Clint Bundrick discussing the games open-ended mission structure with Geoff Keighley for Gameslice below:
Crackdown 3 will be available on Xbox One consoles and Windows 10 on November 7th.
