It makes no sense to have luggage on a flight to nowhere. They were going to land right where they came from.

Maybe it wasn't luggage, but camera equipment and other stuff of a professional nature? You know, brief cases and such? Things you might take to work with ya?

Haha, yeah I didn't think about that, but I'm sure they can come up with some B.S. excuse for why there was.

Equipment, perhaps? Maybe some reporters had flown in from other cities, like New York or Gotham City, to cover it and they used the holder to put their luggage instead of waste cash?

Yeah, see there are a lot of excuses that can be made for why it was there. I can almost guarantee you though that it was just put there because it looked cool and would be another thing to throw at the passengers.

LOL......There was one funny shot where some guy got hit with some luggage in the back of the head. That was funny.

I've been wondering...when that guy and girl notices Superman on the wing, was the guy hit with luggage causing him to look at the window? or did he just look over? There was so much going on I couldn't keep track.

And was I the only one that wanted Lois to get impaled by pen?

It's there to show how the plane will handle during normal conditions. IE: weight from luggage.

Honestly, it's such a minuscule and unimportant part of the film I have not, nor will not, actually use brain capacity to try and deduce an answer.

So lets just say all of the reporters were going to Boca Raton afterwards.

Damn good point! Of Course, I don't understand why you would want to launch a space shuttle froma commercial airline in the first place.

Do me a favor. Read the rest of the thread.

And they explained why in the movie.

The plane said "Air Force" on it.

So the plane was supposed to carry passengers to some place they wanted to go like canada or wherever, as well as launch a space shuttle? Something's causing error in my mind. Now ok... it's an aircraft for "average" people to board to go to mexico or wherever, and also a shuttle launching pad sort of deal, killing two birds and all that I suppose. Is that right?

The large plane was not a commercial craft. The project was a joint venture between the Air Force, Nasa, and some private companies. The plane was merely going to be used as a launch pad. Nothing was specifically said about it being used for regular flight although I'm sure some entrepenuer would definitely try to kill two birds with one stone.

No. The commercial vehicle in the movie being tested was supposed to be the shuttle.

so what i'm wondering is what's this talk about how much a ticket would cost. Is it a shuttle for average joes to go blast off into space? This also brings up a question of whether it'd be necessary to test a non-passenger aircraft with luggage onboard if there really won't be any need. the entrepenuer idea may be the best answer to this. Interesting question...
