Apparently, Nikki Finke's Deadline has so much news piling on their laps, they don't know what to do with it all. This may be why a scoop on the possible casting for what could turn out to be a high-profile science fiction movie was buried in a post about possible candidates to take over for Simon Cowell on "American Idol."

In this case, she was talking about Justin Timberlake, who could be a viable candidate for the reality show if he wasn't so busy making music and trying to have a movie career. It's the latter part that's of most interest to us, because buried in that bit of television gossip, she also says,

"And he's been offered the lead in the Andrew Niccols-directed I'm Mortal for New Regency and Fox."

Being cast in I'm.mortal seems like a pretty big deal, especially just two weeks after actress Amanda Seyfried was offered the lead in the movie set in a future society where people can't age and can only stay alive as long as they pay. Seyfried is playing the role of a woman kidnapped by a man whose time has expired so he goes on the run, taking her with him. Some probably presumed that this man would be significantly older than the 29-year-old pop sensation though having an actor closer to Seyfried's age (24) would probably make more sense in the grander scheme of things.

As we know, being offered the lead and actually signing on the dotted line to take the part are two different things, but certainly this bit of potential casting news deserved better treatment than being buried in an "American Idol" story.

Interesting concept and I felt Timberlake was quite good in the couple of things I've seen him in.

Interesting story. Reminds me of Logan's Run but not actually aged based when it's time for you to die.

I love Amanda Seyfried but it's getting tough to sit through her movies since they keep pairing her up with *****ebags. First Channing Tatum, now Timberlake. If she shows up in a movie with Pattinson, I'm done with her.

I don't think there is anything remotely *****ebaggy about Timberlake, being popular with the ladies and making R&B music doesn't make him a *****ebag, same goes for Pattinson, he may have silly screaming girlie's running around after him but he seems like a decent guy, Tatum I'll give you though, got a chip on his shoulder that one.

Like the concept, very reminiscent of Logan's Run. Seyfried is a good actress although I'm not sure if Timberlake is right for the role.

Well, agreeing on one out of three ain't bad.

Cillian Murphy Doing Time in Andrew Niccol's I'm.mortal

Source:The Hollywood Report
August 8, 2010

The Hollywood Reporter says that actor Cillian Murphy, most recently seen in Christopher Nolan's Inception, will be joining Amanda Seyfried among the cast of Andrew Niccol's science fiction drama I'm.mortal for 20th Century Fox and New Regency.

Murphy joins Amanda Seyfried in the movie set in the near future where immortality can be bought and the rich can live forever, creating a situation where overpopulation is controlled by those who can afford to buy more time. When a poor man named Will finds himself with money and is accused of a murder, he goes on the run with a captive heiress, played by Seyfried.

According to trade, Murphy will play an officer from an organization known as Timekeepers who is as "precise as the time he keeps," presumably making him one of the law enforcement officers after Will.

Last month, ComingSoon.net discovered a tidbit buried in an "American Idol" story saying that Justin Timberlake was in negotiations to play the role of Will in Niccol's movie--you can read that story here--something that's also confirmed by the new Hollywood Reporter story.

The movie is set to start shooting in September.

Great addition to the cast.

Vincent Kartheiser and Collins Pennie joins the cast

Vincent Kartheiser ("Mad Men") has joined the cast of Andrew Niccol's untitled Justin Timberlake-Amanda Seyfried thriller about a society where no one ages beyond 25, except for those rich enough to buy time.
Cillian Murphy also stars in the New Regency pic, which 20th Century Fox will distribute. Kartheiser plays the father of Seyfried's character, who is forced to choose between the daughter he loves and the oppressive time system that has made him rich.

Also joining the cast is Collins Pennie. He plays right-hand man to Timekeeper Raymond Leon (Murphy).

Project was previously titled "I'm.mortal."

From a script by Niccol, storyline follows a rebel from the ghetto (Timberlake) who is falsely accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time, and goes on the run with a beautiful hostage (Seyfried). New Regency picked up the high-priority project last spring. Storyline seems to dictate a youthful cast.
And going by the article, I guess is confirmed that Timberlake is going to star in the lead role as well.

Olivia Wilde to Play Justin Timberlake's Mom in Thriller

Olivia Wilde is set to reunite with her "Alpha Dog" co-stars Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in Andrew Niccol's untitled thriller, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap. 20th Century Fox is distributing the New Regency project (formerly known as "I'm.mortal"), which is set in a society where aging stops at 25 and time has become the currency. The rich are immortal, while the rest struggle to stay alive.

Wilde will play Timberlake's mother despite being 3 years younger than him in real life.

wonder what the name change will be

I'm Mortal did seem kinda of weird for a name sounded to unique for it's own good

Thanks for sharing! I absolutely adore Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy.
I'm having doubts about Justin Timberlake but that won't stop me from watching this movie.
I can't wait!

Lol "Now"?

I'm.Mortal was a cool and clever title

I was too happy with the previous title, 'Now' is a dull title and it feels like it's missing something more, they could have rename it like 'Now.Mortal' or something.

I'm kind of confused as to why a society would decide to operate like this. It just seems like an overly complicated way to keep a population in line. Of course, I would have to see the movie to see how it plays out, but the synopsis isn't doing a good job of making me understand the premise.

I would have loved if they used I'm.mortal Now.

this is a better explaination of the plot (IMDB)

In the not-too-distant future the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor young man who comes into a fortune of time, though too late to help his mother from dying. He ends up on the run from a corrupt police force known as 'time keepers'.

so basically NO ONE gets older, everyone is eternal (forever young) but not immortal (live forever) so you have a ticking time bomb that will kill you unless you pay money to extend your life so only the rich live long lives.

prefer the plot of logan's run, it's simpler.

Sounds interesting, too bad it has Justin (the original Beiber) Timberlake in the lead.
