Kane's Movie - Will it tank?

Tyler Mane who played Sabertooth.

Although, he didnt act poorly, he didnt really act at all, he just looked mean (like Kane in this movie). I wouldnt say he did a good job though just because the character is totally different from the comic. He never smiled. Sabertooth got so much enjoyment out of killing people. And he was very sarcastic. Not like Spiderman, but he was known to quip every once in awhile.

I knew it was Tyler Mane.
Dang it, I didn't know he was a wrestler though.

Did he wrestle in independent promotions?

I think "X-Men" is the only movie featuring a wrestler when the wrestler actually did a good acting job.

This is gonna suck, and suck hard.

Goldberg, kevin nash, and stone cold were all good in The Longest Yard.

Stone Cold has also been good on his guest spots on tv shows. (Nash Bridges being the most memorable.)

And I'm prepared to fight anyone who didn't think Suburban Commando was a good movie. :o

It only cost $8 mill, so it'd be tough for it to tank.

It's funny how so many go into bash mode because the it stars a wrestler, when wrestlers are basically professionally trained actors that are as good, if not better than atleast 60% of Hollywood.

Glen/Kane has a great presence, voice, mannerisms... He's perfect for this. What he's been doing for the past 8 years in the WWE requires more acting chops than quite a few "professional" actors have shown.

He was in WCW in the Early 1990's (before Hogan). He tag teamed with Kevin Nash (before Nash was Big Daddy Cool in WWE).

Tiny Lister Jr. (Deebo from the Friday movies) actually feuded with Hulk Hogan during the whole "No Holds Barred" movie angle in 1989 (Hogan and Lister, as Zeus, "wrestled" in that film). Lister also had a brief run in WCW.

So in essence this thing could come in about 3rd or 4th place and still make a profit.

This could very well be this year's Saw. Not quality wise, but in terms of box office. The DaVinci Code will probably be over the head of a lot of 17-25 year olds just looking for fun. This could be their alternative.

Quality wise...on one hand WWE produced it...on the other, so did Lionsgate films....I think it could turn out ok...but a lot of people won't take it seriously just because of the WWE productions in the opening credits.

Pretty much, especially with video and dvd taken into account.

A-****ing-men my brother.

It's just that the incessant promotion of the movie, the entire "May 19th deal" for those of you who watch the WWE on Monday Nights, at least for me, is having the opposite reaction of what they intend.

May 19th this, May 19th that, constantly. It's over-kill. I don't have to be reminded 4. straight. weeks. or even more than that that some guy from the WWE has a movie coming out. I heard it once, saw the stuff, it looked cool. Now I just want May 19th to get here so the damn hype machine on it finally dies.

That's the only thing about the movie I'm knocking

Tyler Mane, he played Sabretooth. I wouldnt say he did a GREAT job at it because he wasn't given but THREE lines.

"Grrrrrrrrrrr"

"They knew"

and

"Scream for me"

So I wouldn't praise him to much, but honestly he COULD have done it well, I don't know, but they way the part was written was **** to begin with.

just so those who were wondering about Cena's movie, it's called The Marine. In which he plays a marine (big f**king surprise there). It was originally going to be Stone Colds movie, but he and the WWE had a falling out, so they gave it to Cena. It's been done for over a year now, but they havent released it, so I think they know it sucks.

It's made on the cheap and the studio has adopted the counter programming strategy of playing it opposite the more highly publicised "The Da Vinci Code". It should make a decent sum at the box-office (US$10-20 million) and probably make a killing (pardon the pun) on DVD/home rentals. Overall it's a safe investment.

Maybe it would have faired a little better if it had been released around Halloween. It won't be any competition to other big movie releases this summer.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437179/business Budget
$8,000,000 (estimated). Has anyone seen any previews for the movie on tv other than on Raw or Smackdown?

The answer is easy, since this is the kind of movie that seems to do better in the dvd market, it looks like it's DVD release is going to be during the halloween season.

Tyler Mane was also in Troy, he played Ajax (the big bearded guy with the hammer).

Actually saw a commercial for this last night, looks like your typical dime a dozen horror slasher movie.

He was in The Devil's Rejects as well, but never got a chance to share a scene with DDP; who I might add was another of those rare wrestler turning in a great acting performance on the silver screen!......

Wow, I didn't know Deebo had stepped in a ring.
Wowzer.

From the posts in this thread,
I have come to the conclusion that Hollywood didn't give Tyler Mane a good chance.

That sucks.

Pretty much suicide to go against something like Da Vinci Code and even Over the Hedge. This will probably do better in DVDs.
