Haha, and WETA is doing the fx work. It sounds like I'm making it up, but I am strangely curious.

They already made a big screen Thomas the Tank engine film, starring Alec Baldwin, mixing animation with live action.
It got 1 out of 5 in Empire magazine, I rented it one night to see what the hell it was all about, out of bizarre curiosity, hoping I'd get a laugh out of it while high or something, but no, it was like that Cat in the Hat live action adaptation(which i bought for similar reasons), no, 'so bad it's good' bits, just a really boring bizarre experiment....kind of like my life, lol.

Damn Hollywood. You don't add flames on Thomas and make Henry a wise cracking Jamaican.

Guilmerio Del Toro to direct please! and he can also cameo as the Fat Controller.

Piers Morgan as Gordon.

I just heard about this, sounds like such a bad idea. Certain properties need to be left alone.

You are so wrong, and you know it, you just want to come in and slag off the movie for the hell of it.

I used to catch the show with my nephew when he was growing up, it was a v good kid's show, and could well make a great kid's movie, where you get the idea it's a bad idea is extremely puzzling to me, unless you are just the type to want to hate on it no matter what.

Ringo Starr as Mr. Conductor please!

(For those that remember Shining Time Station, you know what I am talking about).

I was all about Thomas when I was three. Not so sure about this, though.

Why let Betty White play Mrs. Conductor in a new character...

Sir Top'um Hat. It is sad that I know the character's name.

I still remember all of those characters. Thomas, Percy, Gordon, James, Henry, Edward, Duck, Toby, Diesel, Bill and Ben, Donald and Douglas, Bertie the Bus, Harold the Helicopter....:o

Sounds like a good idea to me! I LOVED 9. and, speaking in regards to the fact that that show is a beloved childhood favorite of mine, if there's one man who can masterfully handel a property like Thomas The Tank Engine, it's Shane Acker. There's NO WAY anyone would DARE **** this up like they did back in 2000.

*looks at screenwriters' past works* Oh, no. They hired guys who wrote Alvin and the Chipmunks AND Shrek 3 to write this?! My childhood is dead....:waa::waa:

Just kidding. But in all seriousness, I REALLY hope they don't screw this up! As I said, I LOVED "9", and I think Acker's PERFECT for this movie! I wish him and the guys at WETA the BEST of luck on this project!

This could be cool if done right. I watched this show and had alot of the toys as a child, so seeing that teaser brings back memories. Something within the tone of Toy Story would be enough.

I'm actually interested to see how this might be done. Seeing a darker and more adult-oriented version of this show translated into a film could certainly be something if it's done right.

Sounds like a 'Gitta Feed the Family' type of deal for Shane.

Daaaaanngg so a man can't have a different opinion??? Wow

I think its a bad ¡dea because I remember adaption's such as Thunderbirds and shudder.

And no I am not the person to hate on something no matter what. Many times I have had negative thoughts to various news regarding these movies such as Heath Ledger as Joker and have been pleasantly surprised by the outcome. It's just right now I don't see how its going to work but time will tell I guess

Not gonna lie, I have considered this before. Like that guy from Downton Abbey, Jim Carter, as the Fat Controller (no Sir Topham Hatt nonsense for me)

Trust me, if you've heard his voice you'll agree with me. Still, I bet Hollywood tries to turn it into a cheesy American piece of ****. Oh well, then they can reboot it with Thomas in darker colours speaking in a grissly, low voice :awesome:

sadly the fat controller was retired form the product years ago as he didn't fit in with todays standards.

in other words it was un-pc to call someone fat

Sir Top'um Hat. It is sad that I know the character's name.

I can sing the theme song with the British accent. My nephew loves that show. So I've seen it a million times.
