Action-Adventure Keanu Reeves to lead '47 Ronin'

filming on location with cgi(location shooting costs way more money then shooting cgi in a studio like say 300 did) and being in 3D and filming essentially twice because of filming in 2 different languages

is not gonna be cheap

You do have a point there. I never thought about it like that.

Yeah the double takes of the same shot in different languages also drives up the budget.

still probably could of been lower but did dead man's chest also really need a 225 million budget probably not lol

Either way I still hope for the best because what's being done here is really experimental stuff (Filming the same take in two different languages) and that behavior is what should be the norm in this industry not the exception. Here's hoping for the best. This is still one of my most anticipated movies of this year.
excuse me?ohhhh noooo they didnt?

this is a stupid idea. this is money thrown out of the window.

It is a stupid idea.

It should be in 47 different languages.

Reeves said that scenes are filmed first in the Japanese language to familiarize the cast, and the scenes are filmed again in the English language

how is this thinking outside the box? this is more money spend because they dont want subtitles.

and they dont do only two takes. every shot that you see in the movie was filmed at least 3 times. so if this was done for two different languages you see how this is crazy.

Atticus Ross Scoring "47 Ronin"
While Atticus Ross is best known for his collaborations with Trent Reznor in Nine Inch Nails and of course on the soundtracks for "The Social Network" (which won them an Oscar) and "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," he has ventured out on his own on more than one occassion. He has worked close with the Hughes Brothers, scoring their TV series "Touching Evil" (alongside his wife and brother, Claudia Sarne and Leopold Ross) as well as "The Book of Eli" and Albert's segment in "New York, I Love You." Ross also contributed to the excellent array of talent on the "Days of Grace" soundtrack. Well, he's once again striking out with a solo gig, and and it's one helluva blockbuster project. Film Music Reporter reveals that Ross will score Carl Erik Rinsch's upcoming 3D samaurai tale "47 Ronin." Starring Keanu Reeves, Rinko Kikuchi, Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki and Tadanobu Asano and penned by "Wanted" co-writer Chris Morgan, the film follows the story of the titular 47 warriors who, following the forced seppuku (ritual suicide by disembowelment) of their master after assaulting a court official, seek revenge on those who caused his death. Damn.
The addition of Ross is an intriguing one. It's his first period movie, and it certainly suggests that though Reeves will be wearing a robe and sandals, this won't be your ordinary samurai flick by any stretch of the imagination. The film has been kept under wraps for now, but with the November 21st release on the horizon, we'll hopefully start seeing some images and teasers very soon.

47 Ronin moved To Feb of 2013
Universal has postponed the Keanu Reeves sci-fi action film 47 Ronin from its original Thanksgiving 2012 release.

The movie was slated to pen November 21 of this year, but has now been pushed to February 8, 2013, according to Box Office Mojo. This new date will pit 47 Ronin against Relativity Media's romance Safe Haven.

The official synopsis for the epic says Reeves plays "Kai, an outcast who joins Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), the leader of the 47 Ronin. Together they seek vengeance upon the treacherous overlord who killed their master and banished their kind. To restore honor to their homeland, the warriors embark upon a quest that challenges them with a series of trials that would destroy ordinary warriors. ... Inspired by styles as diverse as Miyazaki and Hokusai, Rinsch will bring to life the stunning landscapes and enormous battles that will display the timeless Ronin story to global audiences in a way that's never been seen before."

Carl Erik Rinsch directs 47 Ronin from a script by Wanted's Chris Morgan and Drive's Hossein Amini.

Bummer, I was looking forward watching 47 Ronin this year and would Feb be a good time to release this film?

does't mean it's bad

chronicle was released in feb and the grey was released late jan.

both great movies

If this gives them more time to sort out whatever issues they might be having or gives them more time to deliver a more polished film I support the release date change.

I think it is a better release date because they were originally going head to head with Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity, and opening two weeks before The Hobbit and Les Miserables.
