Different strokes for different folks.

I heard these same complaints during the clone years. With as much enthusiasm and zeal. It wasn't that bad then. It isn't that bad now. In fact, quite the opposite. I think it's been very good. (Note, I didn't say great, or top 10, or the best ever. I would put it above average. To me, that's very good.) You can disgree, that's fine. But I think I have as good, if not better, understanding than a majority here. And I could lord that around, and say that my opinion counts more because I've been collecting longer. I don't. Because, believe it or not, I believe that I should treat you guys with respect. I do respect your opinions. How about you respect mine? (You know I'm not talking about you, right Doc? 'Cause you're the best :cwink: )

Note: I just noticed you said "since Sins Past." You're right. I would grade it as average or below since then, mostly because of the hopping from event to event.

Let me ask you this, Dangerous? Why do you guys get to set yourselves up as the arbiters of all things Spidey? I've been reading since the mid-70s. I can think of maybe 5 people on these boards that have a more complete collection than I do. Does that not give my opinion a little weight? Doesn't that put me in the category of "anyone w/ any credibility involved in Spidey comics?" I've been enjoying JMS' run. Does my opinion count? Or does it only count if you can be angry, bitter, and make disgusting analogies?

So you have been enjoying JMS' run, in your eyes therefore- it has been decent. Whether you continue to buy a series is determined by your enjoyment above all else right? You think the book is quality, and I don't. We have a difference of opinion. Neither perspective is more valid.

I'm just right that's all, hahaha

Well, I for one will be increasing the amount of Spidey comics I buy with the inception of Brand New Day.

To be honest, I kind of feel like my prayers have been answered in that it seems were finally getting back to a semblance of stability in the Spidey-verse. Ever since Sins Past Spider-Man comics have lurched from one "life-changing" event to another; The Parker home burning down. The Other. The Unmasking. Back In Black...

I can't wait to get back to the kind of retro-feeling, back to basics stories that Swing Shift seemed to be foreshadowing.

In all honestly, I don't care anymore if the Spider-marriage gets dissolved. I want it to get dissolved. It's a sacrafice I can live with.

Wipe the slate clean. Fresh start. Fresh stories. Brand new day.

Joe Q?

Just because you have a bigger spiderman collection hardly makes your opinion better than everyone else's iloveclones. Its the old yours is bigger than mine argument lol. I thought we were past that. Come on man, we have a difference in opinion, i never said my opinion was better than yours. Your just insecure about your opinion cuz you know its wrong. If your this HUGE spiderman collector as you say you are than you should be the first to realize how much crap JMS and JQ have been putting out.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that makes your opinion so right and mine so wrong?

I was just yanking your chain.

Like I said,- my opinion is no more valid than yours and vice versa.
Obviously we both believe we are right. You think JMS' run has been worthwhile, and I think it sucked more dick than jenna jameson.

EDIT- oh right you were talking to Gabbra.

Then we are on the same page after all :)

Oh, I would add that the Hydra arc was stellar - and that was post SP, so that's an exception.

It doesn't make it a better opinion to have a larger collection or run. It helps add perspective that new readers may not have. They may not realize how much better things COULD be.

This really isn't rocket science. Stuff didn't work, so fix it. The marriage DOES work, so why fix it?

The Hydra arc was STELLAR...and to date, the only good thing to come from Spider-Man joining the Avengers.

The Hydra story was definately the best post-Sins. 70s era Hydra-Avengers. In Green. Good stuff.

I was kidding about the opinion thing. I even said in my post that your opinion is no better than mine iloveclones. You can like JMS all you want but as a long time spider fan i dont like it because it ruins some of the greatest aspects of the character. The Other was crap, Sins Past was crap, Unmasking was a joke, back in black was completely useless, and now OMD. Im sorry but if your willing to accept this than thats fine, Thats your opinion. But he forgot what spidey was originally about. It wasn't this huge event driven 6-12 issues of crap. While JMS has written some good issues. That doesnt excuse him for some of the worst spiderman stories. Its on par with the worst of what the clone saga had to give.

Believe it or not, it's not my job. Ask mommy and daddy.

Sigh. Okay, I can see this isn't going anywhere pleasent. If you're going to be a child about it, then I have nothing to say to you.

If you agree it isn't illegal then just accept the fact that it's not stealing. If it was then it'd be illegal.

You know, I really do think that it's stealing even if it's not specifically "illegal". At the same time, I have no problem with stealing comic books...for free...on the internet. I'll buy something if I specifically want to support it (Spider-Girl or a Ben Reilly reference). But other than that, I'm a shameless thief.

I liked the clone saga too

HIGH FIVE!

You may be one of the only "old-timers" (i can't think of a more respectful term at the moment) who actually likes the Clone Saga.

is anyone the least bit excited for OMD part 2 tomorrow?

Well, if someone were going to shoot me in the head, it would "excite" me, but that doesn't mean I'm looking forward to it. So, I guess you could say I'm "excited", but I'm filled with dread, more than anything.

Also, I HATED the Clone Saga...but it isn't as bad as what we've got nowadays.

I'm really going to get it for this, but what the hey:

Not only did I like the clone saga, but from his first shadowy appearance, I was hoping that it was the clone AND that it would be revealed that he was the real deal. I actually couldn't believe it worked out that way.

And before anyone starts throwing things, just calm down. You got your way. He's a big pile of goo now (of course, OMD is coming.... :cwink: )
